His Excellency, the Rector of King Khalid University, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Dawood, has met in his office today (Wednesday), the deans of the faculties of Sharia in the Gulf Cooperation Council. The meeting was in connection with the 11th meeting of the deans of the council, which is embraced by King Khalid University.
At the beginning of the meeting, Rector Al Dawood welcomed the Deans, wished them success in their mission, and hoped that meeting would bear fruit for the good and welfare of the nation's youth.
After that the Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Fundamentals of Religion at King Khalid University, who is also the head of the course, Dr. Ali Al Shahrani, delivered a speech in which he stressed the importance of the role of the Commission, in many subjects. Al Shahrani dealt with the topics under discussion on the agenda, hoping that the meeting would come out with recommendations and decisions that would serve the interests of the people of the states of the Gulf Cooperation Council, and the people of the colleges of Sharia and Islamic Studies - the students in particular.
The Committee discussed the five-year plans for joint working committees, and the inclusion of college data in Al Jesr database. Also discussed were the academic accreditation and cooperation between colleges in referential comparisons and performance indicators, as well as remote teaching.
The officials at the meeting also discussed issues on remote teaching, on the secretariat website, on the expansion of the acceptance of grants request, and on the proposal of adopting the legitimate magazines like Al Tamaeouz magazine, which is classified in the isi. Other issues discussed were on the proposal of the adoption of Sharia and Islamic Studies programs in the Gulf as a standard global valuation in Sharia studies, as well as the proposal of establishing an electronic library for the scientific messages in Sharia colleges. The participants of the meeting also discussed on what could be provided by the faculties of Sharia and Islamic Studies to maintain security in the Arab Gulf states so as to protect young people from deviant ideas. Also discussed was the proposal of establishing an independent association for spreading the sciences of Sharia electronically, as well as the proposal of holding an international conference to discuss the most important issues in the GCC countries.
