King Khalid University has begun working on releasing a series of academic research studies on a group of contemporary intellectual issues, done by a group of researchers and legal specialists, from outside and inside of the university, represented by the Research and Consulting Studies Institute, and the Unit of Intellectual Awareness at the university.
The Dean of Research and Studies Institute of the University, Dr. Abdul Latif bin Ibrahim Al-Hidithi, has stressed that, that series of studies had been designed to establish a moderate Islamic thought that is governed by Sharia and religion, and to achieve rooted legitimacy that includes responding to deviant intellectual suspicions and highlighting the seriousness of atonement and extremism in religion, and tolerance in the sanctity of infallible blood.
The studies also aim at developing the religious faith and making recommendations about immunizing young people against deviant thoughts to achieve national security. This aim comes as an extension of the university's realization of its role towards community, and comes as a confirmation to the institution's mission of spreading awareness regarding terrorism and extremism, and highlighting their dangers.
The studies also address important issues of intellectual deviation, including its causes, effects, and treatment. Moreover, the studies address the concept of allegiance in Islam and its impact on the achievement of intellectual security, in addition to the concept of jihad, its provisions and etiquette "suspicions and responses." Also, the studies address the issues of psychology of the extremist "diagnosis, prediction, and treatment," and the impact of moral thought in modern philosophy on intellectual security. Another area of focus of the studies is the impact of the jurisprudence in the consolidation of intellectual security and awareness "concept, and its importance, its fields," as well as its faith, starting points to achieve intellectual security.
Other issues of focus are events in the area of the Imam and its impact on intellectual security "concept and pillars," the affliction of difference and separation "reasons, features, Muslim's duty during sedition," and social media and its impact on the development of intellectual awareness.
