His Excellency, the Rector of King Khalid University (KKU), Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Dawood, met a number of university students in an open meeting in which he talked about his educational career; offering a number of tips for students and answered their questions and inquiries. The meeting came during the Rector's sponsorship to the closing ceremony of the activities of Diwaniyah Alrabee, and the first maritime forum activities, which were organized and supervised by the Deanship of Student Affairs.
Rector Al Dawood praised the idea of Diwaniyah and the efforts of the Deanship of Student Affairs, stressing that such approach through informal meetings helped colleagues to get closer. The Rector said, "You get me out of the atmosphere of transactions, of paper works and of meetings, to such an interesting time" He also spoke about his experience in scholarship, and pointed out that he wrote a book on that subject, in which he talked about all what he faced since he decided to start his scholarship, till his return with doctoral testimony.
Rector Al Dawood directed a number of important messages to students in which he tried to explain the importance of the Council of the Senior Student Committee. It is known that the Rector is the Head of this Committee, which handled students' issues and which serves as a means to make their voices hearable to the officials at the university. The Rector advised the students to take care of themselves, of their university, and of their homeland. At the same time, he warned them against being a tool in the hands of enemies of the Kingdom. He said, "Take care of your country and tour rulers, as we live in unmatched peace and welfare. Take a look around us, you will notice how bad their situation is." At the end of his speech, Rector Al Dawood prayed God - the Almighty - to protect this country and its leadership, to prevail safety and security, to supports our troops, to accept our martyrs, and heal the wounded.
For his part, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Meraa Al-Habash, welcomed the Rector of the university and the guests, praising the great efforts done for the sake of students. He said, "the idea of Diwaniyah Alrabee was the Rector's idea in order to embrace university students, and to activate the role of the student activity to reach the largest possible number of students" Dr. Al-Habash also said that the Deanship was keen to see those characters outside the university walls - in youth's gathering places - to submit their resumes and stories of their successes and how they passed the obstacles they faced in their lives. Dr. Al-Habash added that host communities were for exchanging experiences and cultures, in addition to bridging the gap between students and faculty members.
The ceremony included a number of events such as poetry and drama, as well as answering students' inquiries by His Excellency, the Rector. At the end of the ceremony, Rector Al Dawood honored a number of actors who were involved in the successful conduct of the activities of Diwaniyah Alrabee, and the first maritime forum, in addition to the students who were involved in the theatric and poetic performances. Previously, the Diwaniyah has seen five weekly entertainment meetings characterized by hosting a number of vice - presidents and deans, as well as a number of different university communities, which were held at the permanent headquarters of the Diwaniyah.
