On Sunday, June 13, under the patronage of His Excellency King Khalid University President, Prof. Dr. Faleh bin Rajaa Allah Al-Solami, the University Vice President for Educational and Academic Affairs, Prof. Saad bin Muhammad bin Dajem, launched the " Women in Data Science Forum" in its 3rd cycle at the campus of the University City in Al-Fara'a.
Ibn Dajem confirmed the university's keenness to highlight the role of women and their research contribution in the field of data science to encourage young women to become a part of this field, opening new horizons for them. This came during his tour of the exhibition accompanying the forum, which included a number of scientific studies.
On her part, Ambassador of Women in Data Science Forum in Asir and Vice Dean of the College of Computer Science for Research and Postgraduate Studies, Dr. Areej Muhammad Al-Asiri, explained in her speech that the forum shed light in its first cycle on the role of data science in the media, and its multiple uses in detecting misleading news and measuring their impact. In its second cycle, it addressed entrepreneurship in data science and the opportunities and challenges facing emerging enterprises.
Al-Asiri indicated that the forum, in its third cycle, came to introduce the opportunities and challenges of data science in the field of medicine, adding that the applications of data science are many, starting from the manufacture and analysis of drug compounds to the study of complex functional data in genetics.
Subsequently, the sessions of the forum kicked off with the first session under "Data Science in the Medical Field: New Horizons" by Dr. Areej Al-Asiri, "The Possibility of Applying ChatGPT to Changing Health Care" was discussed by Dr. Ashwaq Al-Asmari, while Dr. Monia Al-Alwani presented the third session: "Artificial Intelligence Techniques in the Diagnosis of Neurological Disorders", followed by a session titled "Using Deep Learning in Cancer Diagnosis" by Dr. Barsana Balahi, and a session by Dr. Anandi Devali on "Predictive Analytics in the Diagnosis of Cardiovascular Disease Using Machine Learning Techniques". Then the forum concluded with a workshop on "Using Data Science in Detecting Pneumonia".
