In the presence of His Excellency University President, Prof. Faleh bin Rajallah Al-
Solami, His Excellency the Minister of Communications and Information
Technology, Engineer Abdullah bin Amer Al-Swaha, launched "CODE laboratory of
King Khalid University" at the new campus in Al-Qaraa. The laboratory is the second
of CODE laboratories for digital entrepreneurship and one of the branches of the
digital entrepreneurship center.
The establishment of the laboratory comes in attempt to stimulate entrepreneurship
and enhance the ecosystem of digital leadership by creating an interconnected
environment, ensuring the incubation of digital entrepreneurial projects.
The lab aims to incubate digital projects, contribute to supporting start-up companies,
catalyze the culture of entrepreneurship in the fields of digital entrepreneurship by
providing activities and workshops, and increase the adoption rate of emerging
technologies in the private sector. Furthermore, it seeks to hold 24 digital meetings, 4
contests, 24 workshops, 24 consultation sessions, 24 panel sessions, 12 training
programs, 2 virtual camps, as well as 40 prototypes.
The lab will connect university faculty and experts with beneficiaries and
entrepreneurs and provide high-tech equipment to enable them to manufacture and
create their own business prototypes with the aim of participating in technological
meetings and sessions in order to enhance their skills.
Accompanied by University President, Al-Swaha toured the laboratory and got
acquainted with its sections, which are in line with international standards,
commending the available advanced technologies.
In the same context, the Vice-President of Business and Knowledge Economy, Prof.
Abdullatif bin Ibrahim Al-Hadithi, explained that the university was keen to utilize its
resources to establish the digital innovation laboratory CODE in cooperation with the
Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. The CODE laboratory
intends to support innovators and entrepreneurs' projects with the high-tech
equipment to achieve the aspirations of the Kingdom Vision 2030.
Al-Haditihi, added that the lab seeks to provide various innovative and creative
programs, stressing the importance of providing a fertile environment to serve and
support entrepreneurs in the digital sphere.
The digital innovative laboratory CODE at the university, Al-Hdithi added, is the
perfect place for the university to set its vision and goals in order to reach ideal
investors supervised by a distinguished group of experts, which in their regard will
contribute to building a strong knowledge economy.
On his part, the Director of Creativity, Giftedness and Entrepreneurship Center and
KKU Code Supervisor, explained that the CODE lab also seeks to create innovative
solutions, noting that more than 10 entrepreneurial companies, which target multiple
sectors, were showcased during the visit of His Excellency the Minister of
Communications and Information Technology.
It is worth noting that the Center of Digital Entrepreneurship "CODE" was launched
to serve startup founders and support them in establishing an effective and sustainable
structure for their companies in the digital field. Moreover, the total number of digital
entrepreneurial labs reached 17 labs in the Kingdom with 760 prototypes, 6119
supported entrepreneurs, and 478 startup companies.
