Under the auspices of King Khalid University President, Prof. Abdulrahman Hamad Aldawood, the second scientific meeting of health colleges of the University was concluded on Saturday, 13/9/2014 AD. The meeting started with another meeting with the Dean of the University Center for female students studies, led by, Dr. Shanifa Al-Qarni, the head of the center. The meeting was held over two days at the Theater of the University Center for female students studies in Aseer. The Meeting was titled, "Improving Health Colleges' students' capacities in writing research plans", and its aim is to train Health Colleges' students in techniques of writing research plans, as well as motivating them to participate actively in the scientific transfer in the Kingdom.

On its first day, the meeting included presentation of 8 lectures for the participating students by faculty members experienced in the field of scientific research, and in the steps of writing a scientific research plan. On the second day the students were divided into research groups, with each group consisting of five students of the same specialization. Each group started with writing an integrated research plan under the supervision of a faculty member of the same specialty. The number of research projects participated in reached 25, involving 125 students from a number of health disciplines, supervised by 25 faculty members. The final phase of the meeting was about a follow-up to the students and the implementation of research projects on the ground, passing through all its phases, till the scientific publication at the end of the academic year.

The meeting enabled the participating students and the faculty members to make three recommendations. The first recommendation was about the importance of holding such kind of scientific workshops, which will ensure a good preparation for successive generations of young female researchers. The second one was about the duration of conducting a workshop - for a week - to enable the students under training to obtain the greatest benefit, and the third recommendation was about keeping a proper budget allocated for holding such scientific meetings and workshops in the future.

On this occasion, the Head of the meeting, who is also the Dean of the University Center for Female Students' Studies, and Dean of Nursing College, Dr. Shanifa Al-Qarni said that the meeting relied, in terms of scientific and academic aspects, on a distinguished group of faculty members, who devoted their time to train students, in a way to prepare a generation with academic qualification. She added, "We hope through this forum, to train and arm scientifically a generation of young researchers, and to produce a number of research projects that will not only end up being published,  but also that will be competed upon. The purpose of such forum is to contribute to the consolidation of gains achieved through concept of scientific research, as well as the desire to raise the name of the university to compete locally and globally".
