The Information Technology (IT) Administration, in cooperation with the Electronic Games Club, which is approved and accredited by the Saudi Arabian Federation for Electronic & Intellectual Sports held a gaming tournament from the 4th through the 6th of Rajab at the main campus. The tournament featured approximately 100 individual competitions in which more than 250 players competed. Notably, 16 'FIFA 19' football teams and numerous 'Overwatch' competed.

The gaming tournament is the brainchild of King Khalid University Rector, His Excellency Prof. Falleh Al-Solamy. While electronic games are fun and entertaining, this is also serious business. Computer sciences, especially electronic arts, are growing in worldwide economic significance and are an integral part of the national development strategy. The Electronic Game Club and its associated activities are a magnet for potential computer science talent and a tool for developing those skills in young people. The tournament is considered an investment in human capital for the Kingdom.

The competition in each event was friendly, but fierce. Student Khaled Mohammed Hakami won the FIFA championship, and team 'Saudi Milk' took first place in the Overwatch competition.

Chief Information Officer, Dr. Salem Alelyani, announced the tournament winners and distributed the prizes. He congratulated everyone who participated in the tournament, and thanked all of the organizers and the Game Club who made the event possible.
