King Khalid University Rector, His Excellency Prof. Falleh Al-Solamy, is pleased to announce the launch of the pharmacy preparatory course for the SPLE exam. The course is conducted on the KKUx electronic learning platform. KKUx is a collaboration between the Deanship of e-Learning and the College of Pharmacy. Dean of e-Learning, Dr. Fahad Al Ahmari, and the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Saieri, joined the Rector in announcing the new course. A team of 28 faculty members from the College of Pharmacy created the preparatory course. The series includes more than 500 videos which contains more than 4,500 minutes of exam preparation lessons.

His Excellency the Rector commended the initiative and all of those individuals who worked so hard to make the new course possible. He pointed out that preparing for standardized professional tests is critical for students and recent graduates. The test result can mean the difference between a successful career and years of struggle or disappointment. 'The university is committed to making sure our students and graduates can fully exhibit their knowledge and skills on professional exams', said the Rector.

Vice Rector of Academic Affairs, Dr. Saad Du'ajim welcomed the initiative and congratulated the creators. He said that preparing students and graduates for the job market is a fundamental mission of higher education and a top priority in serving the university’s alumnae. He further explained that supplying the labor market with talented professionals is a critical aspect for socioeconomic development and an element of the national growth strategy.

Vice Rector Du'ajim stated that the Health Specialties Authority decided to begin testing pharmacy candidates for professional licensure starting in 2019. In developing the pharmacy test preparation course in advance, King Khalid University was and is ready to present our graduates for evaluation. Dr. Du'ajim noted that the KKU course is the first of its kind among Saudi universities and will likely serve as a model for other institutions.

The preparatory course encompasses a review of basic medical sciences, plus intensive reviews of pharmacy methods, procedures, and pharmacological knowledge. The course allows for multiple practice tests and provides the user with detailed reports showing areas in which the test taker is strong, and areas where s/he needs improvement. To date, more than 1,500 people have taken the review course for the pharmacy test.
