University Trains 1,300 on the Fundamentals of Scientific Research
The Deanship of Scientific Research at King Khalid University held eight training programs during the 2018 fall semester in the fields of scientific research and development. The programs included introductory lectures, training courses, and workshops that were attended by more than 1,200 faculty members and 100 external participants.
Dean of the Scientific Research Deanship at King Khalid University, Dr. Hamed bin Majdoua Al-Qarni, explained that the training programs are a result of the deanship's effort in the development and growth of research skills among university members. Deal Al-Qarni observed that this is a significant step towards achieving the university mission of becoming a recognized international leader among universities in the field of scientific research and related publication.
The recent programs included two introductory lectures on the role and initiatives offered by the Research and Development Office at the Ministry of Higher Education. Among the initiatives discussed were the basic sciences, engineering, health, and social research initiatives. There was also a symposium by the Deanship of Scientific Research offering an introduction to research programs. This covered a wide variety of research issues such as research support, funding, publishing, and translation. Additionally, courses were delivered on research questionnaires, statistical analyses, an introduction to EndNote Desktop for new users, and online-based approaches to identify real journals.
