Minister of Education will tomorrow, sponsor the international conference "the teacher and the era of knowledge: Opportunities and Challenges." 

A total of 67 researches and work sheets from 15 Arab, Islamic and international countries at the conference.

The Minister of Education, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Essa, will, tomorrow November 28, 2016 sponsor the International Conference entitled "The teacher and the era of knowledge: Opportunities and Challenges," which adopts the slogan "A renewed teacher for a changing world." The conference is being organized by King Khalid University. The venue is at Abha Palace Hotel, and it will last for two days.

On this remarkable occasion, the Rector of King Khalid University, who is also the General Supervisor of the conference, His Excellency Prof. Faleh bin Rajaa Allah Al Solamy, has appreciated the sponsorship of the conference by His Excellency, the Minister of Education. The conference comes within the ministry's concerns of supporting scientific activities and programs at the university. His Excellency Prof. Al Solamy, stressed that the conference aimed at developing teacher's preparation via education colleges' programs, which should be in line with renewable needs and requirements of the era of knowledge. The conference also aims to emphasize the role of the teacher in graduating a sort of conscious, cultured generation, as well as qualified cadres of scientists, experts, intellectuals, and teachers of the future. Moreover, the conference seeks to benefit from outstanding Arab and foreign expertise in formulating visions and effective approaches in the field of teacher preparation and in developing him or her professionally; to keep pace with evolving needs and requirements of the era of knowledge. Finally, the conference will also discuss the development programs of teachers of special needs, in light of knowledge era requirements.

Renaissance engine.

Dr. al Solamy explained that in a world of rapid changes, technology evolution, and renewal of educational systems, the human element remains the base engine of renaissance and cornerstone of development. So. It has become necessary to pay great attention to the teacher; because learning and teaching process is the basis in formatting this acceleration, this development, and this regeneration, and the teacher is the engine that is supporting and influencing this process.

His Excellency he Rector said that the development of teachers professionally, and the emphasis on their roles in building values, get them informed about the most opportunities and the challenges they face and the mechanism of response, and enable them to have the tools to interact positively with the changes, however, it is sublime goals and have meaningful and profound impact.

His Excellency the Rector added that the ambitious vision of the country requires us, in education institutions, to follow it and reflect its objectives on our projects and programs. For that, the King Khalid University has decided to establish an international conference, under the title 'the teacher and the era of knowledge - opportunities and challenges', with an ambitious slogan 'Renewed teacher for a changing world'. This conference is meant to be a contribution from the university in lifting the efficiency of the educational process by preparing the teacher to cope with development and modernization, and to be able to stand on a strong ground - based on affiliation to religion, to values, and to loyalty to the country and its leaders. This kind of teachers will create a kind of developed generation. King Khalid University is establishing a block in the building of development, yearning to be blessed with a booming economy, a dynamic society, and ambitious nation.

Unique researchers' participation.

For his part, the King Khalid University Vice - President for Educational and Academic Affairs, who is the Head of the organizing committee of the conference, Prof. Mohammed bin Ali Al Hassoun, has confirmed that the conference realized King Khalid University's belief in its education role at the local, regional and international levels. Prof. Al Hassoun pointed out that the conference of "the teacher and the era of knowledge: Opportunities and Challenges" attracts a group of scientists in the field of education. He said, "We, at King Khalid University, consider this conference an optimal opportunity for investment in the human element. The teacher is our goal and working on developing him or her is a method to refine education outputs." 

Dr. Al Hassoun added that the Faculty of Education of King Khalid University is harnessing all its potentials, cadres, and academic programs for this conference so as to achieve the desired goals. The Faculty of Education adopts a kind of pivots that include important aspects in the development of the process of learning and teaching for the teacher, so as to keep pace with the regeneration in modern educational systems, and to let the teacher be aware of those challenges and opportunities he or she may face in order to be able to deal with these challenges positively. In addition, the pivots expand the prospects for further constructive cooperation between universities and departments of education.

In turn, the Dean of the Faculty of Education, who is also the Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Conference, Dr. Abdullah Al Kasey, has explained that the Scientific Committee was surprised by a large number of requests for participation from within and from outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Requests have reached 502 abstracts and worksheets; out of which 177 were accepted, and after filtration, the number has been decreased to 67 research and worksheet from 15 Arab, Islamic and international states. Dr. Al-Kasey added that the conference was going to be accompanied by scientific and training workshops to be held within and outside the university, for both students and teachers. The workshops are provided by a number of experts working in the field of education.

Dr. Al Kasey pointed out that the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, has developed methods and tools, and has paid great attention to education, by assigning to the educational institutions their development, taking advantage of every possible educational opportunity in a world that is characterized by knowledge and technology. The purpose is to improve education, and the teacher to play his or her role in a changing world.

 Objectives of the Conference.

It is worth mentioning that the objectives of the conference include developing teacher's preparation via education colleges' programs, which should be in line with renewable needs and requirements of the era of knowledge. Conference Topics

It is noteworthy that the conference is going to cover four pivots. The first is "teacher's preparation and development professionally in the light of the renewable educational requirements". This pivot reviews the teacher preparation between the two sequential and complementary systems, teacher and curriculum development, teacher and modern strategies of methodologies, teacher and modern methods of evaluation, teacher and the employment of modern technology, teacher and students with special needs, and the professional development of teachers in the light of the renewed educational requirements.

The second pivot is "the teacher's role in instilling values in the light of the cultural and social requirements" This pivot is going to discuss the teacher's role in the promotion of tolerance and moderation, and in highlighting the cultural values of the Arab and Islamic nation, in addition to the teacher's role in instilling belonging, identity and citizenship values, and the teacher and the promotion of environmental and health values.

The third theme is "The role of the teacher in the light of the opportunities and challenges of the knowledge era "It will address the role of the teacher in the light of globalization, the role of the teacher in the era of knowledge openness, the role of the teacher in the face of terrorism and intellectual misinformation, and the teacher's role in dealing with other controversial issues.

The fourth theme is "the teacher and the development of the teaching profession." This pivot will discuss teacher's issues and classroom behavior management, the teacher as a mentor and a leader of a school, the teacher and motivation towards teaching work, the teacher and change management, and the teacher and the knowledge society.
