The editor in chief of Al-Riyadh newspaper visits the University and meets the students of media.

The Rector of King Khalid University, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Dawood, has received in his office, his Excellency, the editor in chief of Al-Riyadh newspaper, Mr. Suleiman Al-Osaimi.

At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency the Rector, welcomed His Excellency the editor in chief, stressing the role of the media and its importance in various fields, especially since Al-Riyadh newspaper is one of the wide spreading distinguished newspapers, with balanced setting forth issues, and with display of high professionalism. The Rector gave a detailed explanation for the missions and objectives of the university, and what it seeks to achieve by targeting different segments of society.

After that, His Excellency the editor, went to the headquarters of "Afaak" newspaper which is issued by King Khalid University, at where he was informed about the mechanism of its work, after having been greeted by the head of media and communications department, and the paper's editor - Dr. Ali bin Shuweil Qarni - who in turn welcomed the guest and his accompanying delegation. The guests were informed about the mechanisms of operations in the production of the newspaper.

At an open meeting on the occasion of the visit of editor in chief of the Al-Riyadh newspaper - the Professor Suleiman Al Qsaimi - the editor met the students of the Department of Media, as well as some people with interest in media in the region. The open meeting was aimed at answering the questions of students, and at expanding their knowledge in the areas of media work.

Dr. Ali Al-Qarni - the head of the media department - noted, at the beginning of the open meeting, that the aim of hosting the editor in chief of Al-Riyadh newspaper was that it was important for the student of media department to meet such Saudi distinguished media figure, who occupies a high and important position in the field of media, and who has rich experience that the students would benefit from.

Dr. Al-Qarni also presented, during his talk, a recent brief on the department and its specialties, and the number of students in it, saying that the department was working to achieve two principles represented in the interest of the department to train students during their studies, and the principle of "create your job." Dr. Al-Qarni said, "The department has special media energies - with students receiving offers from leading media organizations, and that is even before their graduating."

The counselor and supervisor of the media center, who is also the media spokesman of King Khalid University, Mr. Fahad Bin Nomeh, welcomed His Excellency, the editor in-chief, Mr. Al-Osaimi, expressing his gratitude for the positive response to the invitation sent to the editor, and for the presence of his Excellency in the university campus, pointing out that Al-Riyadh newspaper was one of the most important Saudi newspapers that had significant role in conveying any opinion in the most professional ways, and by accommodating the views of everyone, stressing that, that meeting would give a lot to the students of the media at the university.

His Excellency, the editor in-chief, Mr.Suleiman Al-Osaimi, expressed his admiration for the university in general, and the media department in particular, saying, "I was surprised by this great scientific edifice, which will be, God willing, supportive undoubtedly to the homeland's development path." He praised the efforts of His Excellency - the Rector of King Khalid University - for the general development of the university, particularly for uplifting it, and for what was achieved by the university in all fields on the level of Saudi universities. The editor in-chief added "We in Al-Riyadh newspaper, are pleased with our presence among you and with our cooperation as well, and I am very glad to be among the youth academic media energies that paired science with work." He further said, "the space is wide open for you in order to work and to train in Al-Riyadh newspaper, the newspaper office will be in the Asir region, God willing, the connection link between the newspaper and you, the door is wide open for you, not only in the printed press, but also in the aspects of the media pertaining to the newspaper in paper, in electronic and in marketing."

After that, His Excellency, the editor in-chief, during the meeting, answered the questions and queries from the students, and that represented in the possibility of establishing training courses by the newspaper at the university. Mr. Osaimi pointed out that there was nothing to prevent that for both man and women, as he replied to a question on how to deal with daily media topics in the presence of social media. He pointed out that Al-Riyadh newspaper was not surprised by the electronic era, but its duty and the duty of all the newspapers was to keep pace with the current time and to diversify their media fields.

At the end of the meeting, the editor in-chief of Al-Riyadh newspaper visited the headquarters of the University Media Center. During a tour of sections of the headquarter, the editor in-chief was briefed on the center's departments, and on the mechanisms of action in it. He praised the work of the center and the professionalism in it, as well as the diversity and integration of its media fields
