King Khalid University (KKU), represented by the Vice - Presidency for Health Specialties, is organizing a conference about university health systems: identity and mission. The conference will be held from 21 to 22 of this month 1437 AH, and it will take place in Abha Palace Hotel. The conference will include lectures, workshops, and scientific research.

The Vice - President for Health Specialties, who is also the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Conference, Prof. Dr. Khalid Bin Saad Al jelban, has explained that the conference "comes as an evidence of the role of the university towards the country in general, and the society in particular, as well as its contribution to the global scientific heritage, and its desire to address new concept in university health systems". Prof. Al jelban further clarified that the idea of holding the conference came from the experience of the unprecedented renaissance in health education, and in the university and in its health facilities, which exceeded the 20 city and hospital collectors in various regions of the Kingdom. These positive developments are what led to the emergence of a new concept for health systems that has never been discussed scientifically, as most of the health facilities adopt the public health system, without having a specific identity. He said, "This new concept attracts leaders in this area from the most prestigious university health facilities - from around the world - to participate with worksheets and visions for this concept, which will have impact on the quality of health and health education services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). The new concept also promotes scientific prestige in this field, which we expect to be the start of further researches and conferences around the world, and retains the University of King Khalid as a pioneer in adopting this approach." Prof. Al jelban also clarified, "Through the themes of the conference, we will arrive at clear practical recommendations in the academic, educational, service, and research aspects of University". On behalf of all the working committees, Prof. Al jelban offered thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud - may God protect him - and to his Crown Prince, His Royal Highness, Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdul Aziz, and to the Deputy Crown Prince, His Royal Highness, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz. Prof. Al Jelban added, "these are our leaders who have supported our health facilities to reach the great level of development and evolution its in now". He also thanked His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdul Aziz - the Governor of Asir region - may God protect him - on the permanent sponsorship of all activities of the university. Also, he thanked the Rector of the University, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Dawood, on his direct supervision of the work of all the committees, and on facilitating the polarization of the most prominent talented around the world, and his focus on the events that have direct benefit to the country and its citizens.

It is noteworthy that the axes of the Health Systems Conference depends on available health systems, options for universities, the balance between health education and scientific research and health services, as well as the integration of health systems in universities with the public health system, and the management and financing of health systems in universities, as well as the future of health services in Saudi universities and their impact on health care in the Kingdom.
