A study by Dr. Safaa Sobh from Hael University, has stressed that biodiversity has important role in stimulating the tourism environment in Saudi Arabia. The biodiversity is considered the base of the ecosystems and the functions provided by these systems. This highlight came in the report of the world commission on the development of the environment, while considering the biochemical changes in animal and in plant as they affect human being and his economic security. The commission considers this as a part of the environmental system, and part of the biodiversity's contribution in enhancing the luxury of 7 milliard persons on Earth. The biodiversity is the diversity of all forms of life on earth, whether on land, or in the core of the earth, and or in water as it contributes in the diversity of plants and animals, in providing the human being with his needs of food and raw materials. The above assertions came during the presentation of her research paper within the activities of the First Saudi Conference for Environment titled "Sustainable Exploitation of Natural Resources," which took place in King Khalid University, in Abha.

The researcher clarified that some of the kingdom's areas were characterized by the diversity of plants and animal cover, as well as being characterized by embracing many varieties of perennials and quarterly plants. That was because of the different terrain and relatively mild climate. Such condition brings about the existence of the various kinds of the wild animals, which adapt with the climatic conditions, thus providing the people with benefits from the diversity of animals and plants kingdoms in stimulating the attraction of tourism environment, and in making the kingdom as a trade mark on the global tourism. The researcher pointed out thus, that could be seen more in the light of the global economic disorder, and in the steady decline in the prices of oil. She continued, "the tourism forms one of the basic economic bases that the kingdom seeks to diversify, as a way of reducing the overall dependence on oil exports".

The researcher further stated that she noted also, that in the midst of the tourist competition in the middle east, it became hard for the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to compete in some of the traditional tourism activities that require developing new kinds of tourism, for example, the tourism of biodiversity to make Saudi Arabia the center of global attraction, and a leading trade mark on the map of global tourism, which will enhance the elements of the innate attractions and the creation of regulations and legislation to protect the bio diversity of region. The researcher concludes by saying "this study is formed upon the theoretical framework - biodiversity tourism - and it aims at analyzing the structure of the environment of the biodiversity tourism, so as to identify the attractive constituents of the Saudi environment to the biodiversity tourism on which we form number of proposals to develop the biodiversity tourism". The proposals were based on the leading international experience in the field, and on the study of the analysis of the descriptive doctrine, as well as on the conduct doctrine, using the style of four dimensional analysis to identify the strength and the weakness points of the biodiversity tourism.
