Rector inaugurates the University educational, Health, Awareness program

Under the auspices of the Governor of Asir region, His Royal Highness, Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdul Aziz, His Excellency, the Rector of King Khalid University (KKU) Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Dawood, on Sunday in the evening, the 14th of Rabe Al-Thani 1437 AH, inaugurated the fourth educational, health, and Awareness program. The effectiveness, which took place in Thrban Center in Majardh province, has been attended by His Excellency the Governor of Majardh province, Mr. Saad Alraeina, the Head of Thrban center, and a number of leaders of the province. The program is slated to be held over 6 days.

At the occasion, the Rector of King Khalid University, His Excellency Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Dawood, expressed his delighted for providing such services to these areas, away from laboratories and halls of the University. He said, "My colleagues and I are happy when we are trying to achieve the third goal of the objectives of the university; community Service after Education and Scientific Research." Rector Al Dawood pointed out that the program was initiated by the university with a simple idea. He added, "Today, and thanks to God, today we are celebrating the fourth round of the program. I hope that this program will be held on a quarterly basis instead of annually, due to the interaction of the beneficiaries of its services." Rector Al Dawood stressed further that the university shouldered responsibility towards the community. The Rector directed his speech to the people of Majardh province, saying "At the end of the program, I hope that we receive your impressions and opinions to take them into consideration in the next program."

For his part, the Vice - President of the University, who represents the Deputy Supervisor of the program, Prof. Dr. Marei Bin Hussein Al-Qahtani, clarified that the university organized that program for the fourth year in a row on a unique experience, that is unique among Saudi universities. He also stated that the selection of sites for the conduct of these forums was planned according to accurate field surveys, and specialized studies. He said, "The forum is not limited to the specified location, but it includes schools, government departments, and health centers, with the participation of most of the employees of the University Specializations and roles." The Vice President further noted that the fourth health, educational, and awareness forum included a comprehensive specialized hospital, and has a mini-University that offers training courses in addition to 378 different activities.

For his part, the Governor of Majardh province, Mr. Saad Alraeina, appreciated the tireless efforts made by the university in conducting such a forum. He also appreciated the University's keenness to provide programs that are of benefit and of interest to all segments of society. His Excellency Saad Alraeina thanked the Rector of KKU and its employees who are participating in the program. After that, the Rector and the Governor of Majardh Province, accompanied by a number of officials, paid a tour to the clinics associated with the program, at where they listened to a detailed explanation of the services being provided.

It is noteworthy that the program was launched this morning.  Health clinics started receiving beneficiaries very early in the morning of the first day, which accounted to more than 210 beneficiaries.  Available clinics at the occasion included: dental clinics, bandage clinic, nursing clinic, specialized clinics, diabetes clinic, as well as family medicine Clinics, pediatric clinic, a clinic of rehabilitation of inner ear disorders, as well as psychiatric clinic, clinic of rehabilitation of bone injuries, rehabilitation of the back and neck clinic, clinic of liver disease examination, laboratory, and pharmacy. A number of charity organizations that are participating in the program have provided mobile clinics, to provide all the services for the province and its affiliated centers. The university has also provided for free, the necessary medications for the patients, through the pharmacy located at the headquarters of the program.
