University to launch the 1st International Dental Conference

Under the patronage of the Governor of Asir Region, His Royal Highness, Prince Faisal Bin Khalid bin Abdul Aziz, King Khalid University, (KKU) represented by the Dentistry School, is organizing the 1st International Dental Conference. The Conference comes under the tittle "the New Era of Dentistry within its International Dimension", and it will take place in Abha Palace Hotel on Thursday, November 12, 2015, AD.

The President of King Khalid University, Prof. Abdulrahman Bin Hamad Al dawood has thanked the sponsor of the conference for his generous care and unwavering support to the activities of University; the activities that enable it to perform its educational and social missions. President Al dawood said, "His Highness, Prince Faisal's sponsorship of the event is a reflection to his majesty's interest in science" The President further clarified that the University of King Khalid plays a great role in providing its student with modern knowledge. He said, "Increasingly, the University depends on the scientific partnership it entered with various international and local entities in order to maximize the scientific output of King Khalid University stakeholders."

For his part, the University Vice - President for Medical Specialties who is also the Head of the Conference Organization Committee, Prof. Khalid Al Jelban, confirmed that the conference "is expected to introduce many dentists of the university and the region". He added, "The conference is a good chance for the university to elaborate its potentials in the scientific arena." Prof.  Al Jelban clarified that Conference would also participate in energizing conference tourism, which aims at introducing the region locally and internationally. Regarding the organizational side, Prof. Al Jelban stated that there were auditoriums for men and for women that were prepared for lectures and for discussing researches, in addition to holding an exhibition that would provide presentations by a number of international entities that are specialized in dental tools. In addition, the conference would include medical education exhibitions in dentistry. The Head of the Organizational Committee praised the large turnout of the specialized entities to the conference from within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and from outside of it. In that case, the university seeks to provide enough areas to receive all applied entities. Prof. Al jelban pointed out to the workshops that were going to accompany the conference which would be presented by guests from the United States of America (USA), the United Arab Emirate (UAE) , and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). The workshops will  take place in the clinics of the Dentistry School in the University City in Abha. The aim of conducting such workshops is to enable dentists to achieve the highest benefit, as these workshops will offer the latest developments in the field of dentistry. In addition, the workshops are a precious opportunity to the postgraduate students.

On his turn, the dean of Dentistry School, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Shahrani, who is heading the Scientific Committee of the Conference, emphasized that the conference was the first of its kind in the Southern region, saying "I expect the conference will witness a large turnout from within the Kingdom and outside of it." The Dean further stated that 25 invitations were sent to participants from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United States of America, and the United Arab Emirate. In addition, throughout the days of the conference, a program for scientific lectures is going to be arranged alongside the conference, as well as two seminars in medical education and dental protective medicine. Moreover, 85 scientific posters are going to be displayed, and an exhibition, offering the latest dental technology, is also arranged. The Dean stated, "Before the start of the conference, 5 specialized workshops are going to be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, AD."
