University to establish 10 investment positions across the University City and its branches.

The General Directorate of Investment of King Khalid University has established 10 scattered investment sites in the University City in Abha, and in a number of the University branches in different regions within the province. The purpose of establishing the sites is to make the teaching staff, the other employees and students feel comfortable.

On this issue, the Supervisor of the General Directorate of Investment at the University Dr. Amer bin Mohammed Al-Husseini Al-Shehri stated that investment management has become one of the departments that are relied upon a lot, and because of the nature of its mandated role, it is expected to move beyond its traditional role of being responsible for revenue development, to be one of the poles on which the University could depend on to make development, to direct and create services, to develop, and to participate in the stimulation of economic development at the university.

On another aspect, Al-Husseini inaugurated the first phase of e-government via Google Apps at General Directorate of Investment. During the inauguration, he explained that information technology had achieved a qualitative leap in the areas of work development and productivity increase, which in turn led to increased rates of economic growth in the academic environment, in addition to achieving the desired economic development. He said, "The revolution that is currently going on through the world, particularly that in the field of information and communication technology, has produced the so-called Virtual Electronic Government, as an alternative to the traditional government." He explained that the electronic government intended to fulfill the governmental acts in a way one used the Internet to carry out governmental transactions wherever one was, and whenever one wanted.

The creative e-governmental approach will surely make it easier to provide services for the places that are lacking of governmental departments. Additionally, it guarantees efficiency in performance and reduces costs; it is an effective way to build a kind of economy that depends on communication and information. Al-Husseini also pointed out that the rapid development of information technology, was an important factor in achieving academic excellence of the University through an electronic government, by enabling employees to accomplish their affairs and obtain information easily and conveniently. He further said, "There are several reasons that push the Directorate as well as the University to shift from the traditional government to the electronic one. On the top is the technical progress and cognitive revolution, in addition to the need to use resources optimally with the need to respond effectively to the requirements of modern life." Al-Shehri pointed out that the University President Prof. Abdulrahman Hamad Aldawood "is keen on activating the principles of transparency and accelerating the achievement, so as to guarantee the safety of procedures, and the completion of the tasks assigned to employees easily and conveniently".
