23 heritage posters provided by University in the 4th Architectural Heritage Forum.
King Khalid University has recently participated in the 4th Architectural Heritage Forum, which was held in Asir Province. The University's Participation was at a unique corner of the exhibition that was accompanying the forum, under the supervision of the University Vice - President Prof. Marei Hassan Al-Qahtani, and the Director of Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Center for Environmental and Touristic Research and Studies, Dr. Hussein Wadi'i.
The Chairman of the University Corner Prof. Mubarak Al-Shahrani said that the corner displayed 23 posters including a number of heritage pictures, inscribed on them a scientific commentary. The Corner also included posters for previous studies conducted by the center about Asir Province, such as the field study of architectural heritage sites in the Aia Valley, and Architectural Heritage sites in the villages of Bani Ghanmi, Baha Rabia, Souda, and Asir.
Publications and brochures were also distributed, which contained different versions of the relevant studies of the Center, in addition to displaying a collection of books related to architectural heritage.
The goal of the corner was to highlight the architectural wealth that characterizes the Asir region, and it is a means to root the Asirian human qualities throughout the generations. The goals could be achieved by activating the role of the surrounding environment in the mountainous plateau and coast areas with skill in the construction of palaces, stone houses, as well as cemeteries, castles, mud houses and huts.
Earlier, the university has signed a cooperation agreement, through Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Center for Environmental and Touristic Research and Studies, with the General Authority for Tourism and Antiquities. The agreement was shown in 3 comprehensive Posters at the university corner.
It is noteworthy that participation in the forum have had positive effect. It elaborated the role of the university in the issues that may concern the community, notably architectural heritage, which Asir region is characterized by, and because of its role in the environmental tourism in the region. Additionally, the participation showed how it is possible for the university to conduct relevant architectural heritage studies, and environmental tourism, as well as in the bid to further highlight the functions of the Prince Sultan Center, such as its activities, and its scientific publications.
