In the Presence of Over 1,500 participants, King Khalid University Kicks Off the "International Conference on Complementary Medicine: Opportunities and Challenges" Activities

Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Govrnor of Aseer Region, Chairman of Aseer Development Authority Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, a two-day conference was organized by the College of Pharmacy in collaboration with the National Center for Alternative and Complementary Medicine. The event is to take place at the Conference and Seminar Center in the University City in Al-Fara'a.

The launching ceremony featured a speech by His Excellency President of King Khalid University, Prof. Faleh bin Raja Allah Al-Solami, where he expressed his appreciation towards the patronage of His Highness, emphasizing the conference's alignment with the university's 2030 strategy and Aseer region’s development strategy. Al-Solami highlighted the university's commitment to education, focusing on the specialty of hospitalization and tourism, and scientific research in the health and life sciences field.

In his speech, Dr. Ahmed bin Muhammad Abu Ababa, Advisor to the Minister of Health and General Supervisor of the National Center for Alternative and Complementary Medicine, underscored the collaboration between the university and the center, emphasizing the growing demand for alternative and complementary medicine practices globally.

The conference, attended by more than 1,500 individuals on its first day, features 12 scientific lectures, five discussion panels, five specialized workshops, over 60 scientific posters, and an exhibition with 16 exhibitors, according to Dr. Abdul Latif bin Jubran Al Mohsenah, the Chairman of the Scientific Committee.

The first day's scientific sessions covered topics such as "Alternative and Complementary Medicine: Local and International Legislations," "Herbal Medicine: Reality and Future Prospects," and "Chiropractic Treatment." Notable lectures included Dr. Youssef Asiri's presentation on "Complementary and Alternative Medicine and Herbal Medicine, the New Challenge in Health Care."

It’s worth noting that the conference provides a platform for specialists in alternative and complementary medicine to exchange knowledge, share research, discuss cooperation and investment opportunities in the field, and highlight the region's commitment to promoting health tourism. It serves as a valuable opportunity for government and private agencies interested in complementary medicine.
