His Excellency the King Khalid University, Prof. Faleh bin Rajallah Al-Solami, recently issued an administrative decision to rename   the “Data Management and Decision Support” as the “Data Office”.

The Data Office's main goal is to create a strategy for data management that ensures its governance, digitization, development, protection, and empowerment to improve the university's resources and capabilities, as well as to create systems, policies, and regulations for data management and the protection of personal data in the university in accordance with directives from the National Data Management Office and other pertinent bodies, as well as to collect and provide annual statistical data reports.

The Data Office carries out a variety of responsibilities, the most crucial of which are developing data management strategies, policies, and standards, protecting personal information at the university level, and creating reports on compliance with approved standards and policies and submitting them to the regulatory body.

In addition, the office implements a number of private and common National Data Management Office standards and policies and assists the university administrations in putting them into practice.

It is important to note that the decision also involved giving His Excellency the University President direct control over the Data Office, which had previously been under the management of the University Vice President for Development and Quality.
