Second Semester Academic Plan Announced

King Khalid University announced the academic  plan for the second semester of the year  1442Ah, which includes the semester orientation, committees and councils meetings, faculty member and employee return  to the university, and  midterm and final examination procedures and dates .

 

The Vice-President of Academic Affairs and the Vice-Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Saad bin Muhammad  Dajam, explained that the academic  plan for  the current  semester is in accordance with the  recent  announced decision issued  by the Ministry of Education.

 

 Bin Dujam, said “that university will continue to implement  distance learning measures for students during the first ten weeks of 2021semester and will review the option of   returning to campus after the tenth  week ,adding that  at  the present  time, there are no changes to the standing grading policies. However , regarding  scientific events, collaborative training, and medical internship courses, specific protocols were put into consideration, these protocols call for 100% distance learning delivery under the terms and conditions approved by the Supreme Committee Supervising E-learning Work.

 

 

When it comes to safety, social distancing will be strictly enforced if there is an urgent need to attend practical or clinical courses. The protocols call for  full use of personal protective equipment and a maximum student capacity of 50%, students are to be  divided into two groups, during practical courses, sections must be divided into groups according to  lab capacity. It’s worth noting that the  college council will retain the mandate to decide which courses are to be delivered online.

 

As for field training and medical intern students, colleges will coordinate with training entities, to achieve the desired  learning outcomes expected from each program. The college, department, and  postgraduate studies councils are to organize the necessary precautionary measures required for all tests and examinations. 

 

As for councils and committee meetings, it was agreed that they would be held as usual following all  precautions,  while assessment policies were also clarified in that college and department councils can call for in-person attendance if necessary. For general courses, computer science introductory courses, and intensive English skills, it is agreed that on-campus attendance is  required, the entire semester  is to be held  online and completed by week 15. All other courses will require on-campus attendance for the final exams.

 

 It's worth noting that King Khalid University is committed to the health and safety of its  community and  will continue to carry out remote learning,  while allowing certain in-person activities under the guidelines of the  Ministry of Education’s  limit of  number of people present in one area . The university also seeks to support the wellbeing of our community  in addition to  fulfilling its academic mission by following the required precautions to prevent 

 the spread of COVID-19.
