Under the patronage of His Excellency, King Khalid University Rector Prof. Falleh Al-Solamy, the Intellectual Awareness Unit, on 25 June 2020, in cooperation with the COVID-19 Crisis Management Team in the Emirate of Asir and Abha Literary Club, the university launched an online awareness meeting with Ministry of Health Spokesperson, Dr. Muhammad Al-Abdali, entitled "The Summer and the Coronavirus Pandemic: Tips and Directions."

Dean of the Arts and Sciences College, Dr. Mesfir Alwadi, directed the meeting in which he discussed different axes of prevention. He provided advice and directions on how to deal with COVID-19 in the summer. "The Ministry, through its media and press conferences, was clear in its statements believing that honesty creates awareness and raises the level of trust with the public. I praise the awareness of both citizens and residents," concluded Dean Alwadi. The meeting included a number of important interactions, such as Dr. Ali Al-Shaabi, where he praised the government efforts in limiting the spread of the COVID-19.

Dean of the Community College in Khamis Mushait, Dr. Ahmed Al-Muraee, who is also the Head of Abha Literary Club, praised the level that the Ministry of Health exhibited in managing the COVID-19 crisis. He noted the great success of accurate media reporting.

"For the next stage of the pandemic, I would suggest adding two media programs that will help the community to deal with COVID-19 and promoting the culture of preventive behaviors. The first suggested program is an educational awareness clip to explain to the community how to live with caution in all circumstances. The second suggested program is a regular meeting once or twice a week to review the global medical developments about COVID-19, the new discoveries, the virus changes, it's potential or evolution, the incorrect rumors, and fears, and simplifying the medical information to educate people about the virus," concluded Dean Al-Muraee.

University Spokesperson Dr. Mufleh Al-Qahtani — who also serves as the general supervisor of the General Administration of Media and Relations — emphasized that the Ministry of Health's consistent communication strategy prevented any communication gaps. He also referred to the role of King Saud University, King Khalid University, and other universities in creating media programs for non-media specialists. Dr. Al-Qahtani praised the Ministry of Health's ability to balance the media between news and awareness.

The meeting also involved a presentation of Dr. Siham Al Haider, Dean of College of Sciences, Arts and Society in Rijal Alma, and Dr. Aida Al-Qarni, Dean of the College of Nursing in Abha, where they are talking about the roles fulfilled by the family unit and the Ministry of Health. They praised the efforts of the Kingdom's leadership alongside societal awareness and compliance.
