The University Plans for Widely Promoted Symposium

King Khalid University, represented by the Faculty of Languages and Translation (FLT) is arranging a national symposium titled "The Present and the Future of English Language in Saudi Arabia: research concerns." The one-day conference will be held on 25/11/1435 AH.

Dr. Abdullah Al Melhi, FLT Dean, and the Head of the Scientific Committee has declared that the conference will host some English Language experts from different countries including the United States and Britain. He explained that the symposium was aiming to attract scholars and researchers in various aspects of English, specifically concerning Applied linguistics so they could share their ideas and the outcome of their research, especially those related to the best methods in teaching process with their peers around the Kingdom. Dr. Al Melhi added that the symposium also aimed at raising academicians' awareness of the current and future trends in teaching English Language, as well as handling top research issues in the field of applied linguistics at the levels of theory and application.

The organizers of the symposium believe it will help in spreading knowledge of the newest trends and publications related to applied linguistics. Additionally, researchers in the field of applied linguistics, and other related fields will be invited to discuss some co-interest issues. The participants of the symposium will also discuss some topics related to literature and language, best teaching methods, culture, linguistic planning, language policies, the courses of English Language, and teaching language in line with technology. The symposium will be accompanied by a book fair.
