King Khalid University recently launched the Mandarin Chinese Fundamentals Course on KKUx. The KKUx platform attracts top instructors at the domestic and international levels. It aims to provide in-demand courses for in-demand careers. The on-demand video lectures and exercises will allow participants to apply their new skills and showcase their expertise to employers with a shareable course certificate upon completion.

 

Dean of E-Learning, Dr. Fahad Al-Ahmari, explained that the Mandarin Chinese Fundamentals Course is the first of its kind and will offer its learners a quality e-learning environment with a certificate granted by the university upon completion. He noted that it is a great course to learn Mandarin Chinese for real-life purposes.

 

Of noteworthy mention, Chinese is one of the six official languages of the United Nations and one of the most spoken languages worldwide. The course will introduce the fundamentals of the language, its dialects, its pronunciations, its characters/words, and the Pinyin writing system.

 

The KKUx platform is an integral part of university-wide initiatives driven by Vision 2030. Open learning is a central component of KKUx, which serves to bolster specific objectives of Vision 2030 in regards to providing learning opportunities to acquire the necessary skills and competencies driving the labor market. The main aim of the platform is to contribute effectively in providing essential skills in the form of high global quality electronic content for future jobs. This initiative is considered the first of its kind at the level of Saudi universities in terms of focusing on 'skills of the future'.
