University to launch its 5th educational health program

Under the auspices of Asir Governor, His Royal Highness, Prince Faisal bin Khalid, King Khalid University (KKU) inaugurates its 5th educational health program which takes place in Alharidh, Rejal Alma'e Governance. The event is going to be held from 8/5/1438 AH to 13/5/1438 AH.

On this occasion, the Rector of King Khalid University, Prof. Faleh Rajaa Al Solamy who represents the General Supervisor of the program used the opportunity to express his thanks and appreciation for the Governor of Asir Region, His Royal Highness, Prince Faisal bin Khalid who is the sponsor of the program. Prince Faisal always takes care of all KKU activities by providing unlimited support to the University. Rector Al Solamy also thanked the Governor of Rejal Alma'e, the employees of Alharidh Center, and the governmental and private sectors for their support to the program and for their participations in it. The Rector also thanked the holders of the program from different colleges and disciplines.

Recor Al Solamy explained that the 5th round of the program comes to prove the University keenness to deepen the partnership and cooperation with societal institutions in order to meet their variable needs. He said, "KKU carry out many programs in many fields. I hope the University will be able to deliver these services to all segments of the community."

For his part, the Deputy General Supervisor of the program, Dr. Muhammed Al Abbas the 5th round of the health program is going to include specialized medical caravans, in addition to awareness and education programs. Thus, the University is harnessing all its facilities and crews for these programs; more than 260 persons are participating in the program. Dr. Al Abbas added that the 5th program will implement a number of service and operational activities, in addition to mobile clinics which are equipped with the latest needed appliances and a pharmacy that will give medications for free. The program also will include arranging many medical clinics and rays laboratories. Al Abbas further explained that the program will hold a number of educational lectures, visual presentations, training courses, in addition to doing field surveys which help officials to stand on the needs of Alharidh Center and its affiliated villages. The program also will provide workshops and religious speech in mosques. Dr. Al Abbas confirmed that the University intends to harness all its potential and staff for the sake of the program. He clarified that many colleges are participating in the program including Sharia College, Medicine, Dentistry, Applied Medical Sciences, Languages and Translation, Nursery College of Khamis Mushyaite, in addition to the Medical City, the Deanship of Admission and Registration, and the Deanship of Community Service.

The program had achieved remarkable success in its previous rounds which had been held in Tehammah Qahtan, Tathletth, Mahyal Asir, and Tharban whereas the number of those who benefited from the offered services was enormous; 15,000 people in the first round, 27,000 people in the third round, 63,000 people in the fourth round. The 5th round is expected to offer more services to a wider range of the community.

It is worth mentioning that the program has chosen Alharidh center at its current round, based on a number of studies and surveys prepared in advance by specialists in this field. Alharidh is located in the southwestern part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia along the Red Sea on the Mecca-Yemen International Road (Jeddah - Jazan) at a distance of 120 km away from the city of Abha, with a population of about 14, 000 people, who live in more than 66 villages.
