Acting President launches seven virtual computer labs.

His Excellency, the Acting President of King Khalid University (KKU), Prof. Dr. Marei Bin Hussein Al-Qahtani, has, on Thursday 11/9/1437 AH, launched 7 virtual computer labs, which are overseen by the General Directorate of Information Technology at the university.

His Excellency Dr. Al-Qahtani was delighted with the development, saying, "It is a pleasure to implement such projects within our university, and I hope this technology would be circulated to all sites because these developmental projects target the students of the University".

During his speech, the acting President urged for exerting more developmental steps that are consistent with the university's strategy, including the universality of modern higher education, and the enabling of all people in the region to invest in the education sector in order to contribute to the achievement of fending desired fruits. The Acting President added, "Using the modern technology in support of the education process is a goal to which each educational institution looks forward to, in order to have an integrated image and unified features, so as to make technology the skeleton of the educational process, and the means to reach the desired goals "

On this remarkable occasion, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of King Khalid University, Dr. Salim Alelyani, has confirmed that the virtual laboratories were centrally managed from a single point, and in the same time were characterized by high level of security, in addition to the minimal material cost, with high efficiency. Dr. Alelyani reviewed the most important services to be provided by the virtual computer device in terms of information security, maintenance, energy, and the percentage of noise, the upgrade, modernization and ease of use, video quality, and backups, in addition to update software. Dr. Alelyani said, "Virtual labs project features high efficiency, reliability, and usability of multiple locations, as well as adequate flexibility for students. The virtual computer labs are considered an alternative solution to traditional devices, which face a host of challenges in terms of high cost of operation and maintenance, as well as in the quality of the service provided."
