The signing of a partnership agreement between the University and the Saudi Red Crescent Authority.

The Governor of Asir Region, His Royal Highness, Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdul Aziz, - on the sidelines of the opening of the University Health Systems Conference: “the concept and the message” - sponsored the signing of a strategic partnership agreement between King Khalid University (KKU), and the Red Crescent in Asir region. The university was represented by the Vice President for Health Specialties, Dr. Khaled bin Saad Al Jalaban, while the Red Crescent in Asir was represented by the in charge General Director of the branch of the Authority, Mr. Ahmad bin Ibrahim al-Asiri.

The agreement comes within the framework of cooperation between the two parties including the development of policies, systems of regulations, providing service, supporting the efforts of researches, the exchange of experiences and knowledge and making them available for research and scientific publication to raise the level of the workers' performance in Authority, and the university students to contribute actively in the provision of emergency services.

The main aspects of joint cooperation summarized in forming a joint team work of specialists from the staff of the College of the Applied Medical Sciences and Nursing in Khamis Mushayt campus of the University, and public administration, of training resource development in the Authority, and the participation of the parties in a shared responsibility to support the efforts of the advancement of emergency medical service to teach it, with provision for providing training programs and continual education for human cadres.

The University will also provide scientific support through the provision of competencies with expertise and specialization according to its available capacities, as well as strengthening the scientific partnership between the two parties in the preparation of research and surveys, calendric, analytical and statistical studies. The Authority - through its experience - proposes research topics, programs and disciplines of academic vitality in the field of emergency medical services and a like, and submitting them to the University.

In addition to that, the University prepares its facilities, laboratories and factories for the conduct of the Authority's activities, and also for the Authority to receive the university students and to train them, as well as providing an opportunity for university students to participate in the operations at pilgrimage (Hajj). In addition, there will be a creation of ambulatory center of the Authority within the University city, as the two parties work on establishing advanced centers, which shall provide an opportunity for the application of the skills of advanced emergency medical service for university students.
