The Coordinating Council for Saudi Universities' Endowments Holds its 18th Meeting at the University

The Coordinating Council for Saudi Universities' Endowments held its 18th meeting at King Khalid University on Wednesday, December 27-2023. The meeting was held over the span of two days, and was attended by the President of King Khalid University, Prof. Faleh bin Rajaallah Al-Solami, the Governor of the General Authority of Endowments, Mr. Emad Al-Kharashi, and representatives of the Ministry of Education, Saudi universities, and local and international endowment investment funds.

His Excellency, the President of King Khalid University, explained that this meeting is held at a pivotal point, due to the recent restructuring of universities and the accelerating development of universities, which are attributed to the undoubted support of His Royal Highness, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and from His Royal Highness, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz. 

Al-Solami confirmed that endowments are an integral part of universities' work, and explained that Saudi Vision 2030, alongside the newly established system for universities both encompass that. He confirmed the university's hard efforts in this field through developing and sustaining revenue as a part of its 2030 strategy, in conjunction with the Asir Development Strategy. 

Al-Solami highlighted the main points of the meeting, which include (regulations and systems of university endowments, endowments' companies, and sustainable investment in university endowments). As well as the meeting of the joint coordination committee, between the General Authority of Endowments and the Coordination Council for Saudi Universities Endowments, which will broaden horizons for universities' endowments and enrich cooperation, in line with Saudi Vision 2030 objectives.  

Head of the Secretariat of the Coordinating Council of Trustees of the Endowments of Saudi Universities, and Secretary-General of the Endowments of the University of Tabuk, Dr. Muhammad Al-Sheikhi, explained that this meeting was held to discuss the latest updates and recommendations regarding ideal practices in endowments' projects, according to our leadership's directives to continue the kingdom's strive for international leadership in education.

He pointed out Saudi universities' recent leaps in international rankings, as an illustration of our readiness for regional, Arab, and international academic competition, which highlight the need for internal resources, and building social partnerships' with various stakeholders.

The first day of the meeting included a forum on governing rules and regulation of university endowments, “Ambitions and challenges”, a forum on endowments’ companies and sustainable development, and a forum on sustainable investment with representatives of the government, private, and non-profit sectors.
