University's Nursing College Organizes a Breast Cancer Awareness Program

King Khalid University represented by the Nursing College, recently organized a
program to raise awareness of the importance of early detection of breast cancer under
the slogan "Your Banner Is Pink". The program was held at Al-Rashid mall and
included the participation of a number of relative bodies.

The University Vice President of Educational and Academic Affairs Prof. Saad bin
Dajim, attended the launch of the program and visited the program booths. The
program awareness and service booths; included a blood glucose test booth, raising
awareness of rheumatism and heart diseases booth, educating the community on
breast cancer booth, as well as booths for early detection of breast cancer.

The dean of Nursing College in Abha Dr. Aida Al-Qarni, explained that the program
was held in cooperation with a number of bodies and college students with the
purpose of serving society through raising awareness of breast cancer and the
importance of the early examination for men and women. She noted that the number
of beneficiaries from this campaign reached more than 150 beneficiaries, 30 of whom
were medically examined and detected, 12 were suspected cases of breast cancer who
were transferred to Abha General Hospital.

Al-Qarni also stressed the importance of early diagnosis and the role it plays in raising
the chances of breast cancer treatment by 95%. She stressed that the college is keen to
raise awareness on the issue through providing clinics for early examination to
achieve the university's role towards the community. In addition, an associated
awareness campaign was held to spread more knowledge on breast cancer. The
campaign provided visual aids and awareness brochures to contribute to urging the
community to early examination in order to reduce the spread of this disease.
