GCC 20th E-learning University Officials Committee Meeting Comes to an End

King Khalid University,  concluded yesterday Thursday the 16th of June 2022, the work of the twentieth meeting of the GCC 20th  E-learning University Officials Committee Meeting. The meeting was held in two day period and included  four sessions that discussed a number of publications and future mechanisms in the execution of future educational plans,  the sessions focused in general on improving the electronic educational process and benefiting from databases and indicators that support the adoption of modern electronic educational patterns based on the experiences used during the pandemic.

 

His Excellency the President of King Khalid University, Prof.  Faleh bin Rajaa Al-Solami, launched  the work of the meeting on Wednesday at the University City in Al-Qara’a, where he welcomed the university’s guests and  praised their  efforts during the  pandemic, he extended his appreciation towards the efforts and support devoted to education by the  leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, he  also stressed that e-learning is an important educational medium that  must be strengthened.

 

 

Prof. Muhammad Ali Al-Mulla,  Kuwait University professor and Secretary of the Committee of E-Learning Officials in Universities and Higher Education Institutions in the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries, explained that the meeting discussed many topics related to e-learning, including the adoption of technologies for  future  improvement   and quality  standards. Al Mulla added, "The role of electronic academic guidance in advancing the development of the educational process was also reviewed, and the proposal of the unified guiding guide for e-learning competencies and professional development for faculty members of the universities of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf was approved. The council also  discussed  the  challenges and difficulties in curricula that need to be addressed, practical training, as well as discussing how to preserve the gains of e-learning after the Corona pandemic, and agreeing to establish a database for specialists and researchers in the field of e-learning in the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.

 

Al-Mulla said,  that the meeting concluded with a set of recommendations, most prominent of which was open courses in enhancing university education programs,  requirements of the labor market,  the exchange of experiences and best practices for developing electronic platforms in view of the developmental and operational challenges of a unified learning management system, and benefiting from the experiences and expertise of KKU university.

 

The members also suggested focusing on building the capabilities and the appropriate infrastructure to create a unified electronic platform, which contributes to unifying efforts. In the same direction, the members considered  involving the  private sector institutions  to provide such solutions.
