University Hosts Endowment Forum

Vice Rector of Women's Student Affairs, Prof. Kholuod Abu Melha, hosted the first induction endowments forum titled "Endless March of Endowments". The purpose of the forum is to raise awareness on the importance of endowments and financing source development. She stated that "endowments are becoming an increasingly vital source of funding for universities in the Kingdom. Endowments fund not only scholastic programs, but the associated funding is also often used for administrative costs, university development, and community outreach. All of these efforts are necessary for social and economic development in the country."

 

Assistant Professor of Jurisprudence in the Sharia College, Dr. Sultana Al-Meshagih, gave a presentation on endowments and Islam. She covered many issues such as legal requirements, religious propriety, and educational ramifications.

 

Vice Dean of Admissions and Registration, Hanan Al-Sadi added, that the educational Awqaf is one of the most desirable types of endowments and a viable source of funds for institutions to fulfill their missions.

 

Vice Dean of the College of Education and forum coordinator, Aisha Faye, says that Awqaf is needed as the Ministry of Education's strategy for Vision 2030 is for universities to be more financially independent from government support. At the end of the program, she honored all of the participants and thanked the attendees.
