Educating Mothers of Children with Special Needs

As part of King Khalid University's activities in Abha’s Summer Culture and Awareness Tent, the Community Service and Continuous Education Deanship held a workshop to educate the mothers of children with special needs. The workshop was attended by 86 participants who benefited from the topics and exercises explored in the workshop.

Assistant Dean of the Community Service and Continuous Education Deanship, Dr. Abeer Al-Medawi, explained that the workshop presented by Dr. Najwa Banis aimed to define what disability is and show how support by family and friends leads to a nurturing environment for the child. Dr. Banis also covered the necessity of continuous awareness training to the mothers of children with special needs, highlighting strategic methods that help maintain the child’s behavior and referring attendees to specialized centers that provide the physical and emotional care needed to support these type of families.
