Rector Sponsors the Signing of an Agreement Between the University and the Saudi Digital Library

His Excellency, Prof. Dr. Faleh Bin Rajaa Allah Al Solamy, the Rector of King Khalid University, sponsored the signing of an agreement between the University, represented by the Deanship of Library Affairs and the Saudi Digital Library. The University was represented by the Dean of Library Affairs, Dr. Abdullah Saeed Al Nasser, while the Saudi Digital Library was represented the Advisor to the Minister of Education, the General Supervisor of the Library, Dr. Abdul Hamid Al Sulaiman. The signing was during the Rector’s visit to the Central Library of the University.

Rector Al Solamy praised the constructive role of the digital library and its efforts in providing the diverse knowledge resources provided by the most prominent international and Arab publishing houses, stressing the keenness of the universities that represent them to make the best use of this rich electronic content.

For his part, Dr. Al Nasser explained that the inspection visit of the University Rector was to review the Deanship, its activities, and contents, as a result of the critical role of the central library to the educational process. Furthermore, Dr. Al Nasser pointed out that the Deanship of Library Affairs has endeavored to sign an agreement with the Saudi Digital Library, as it contains hundreds of thousands of scientific books and magazines. It provides excellent academic service to universities and students, noting that the university needs such agreements as the University has witnessed significant growth in graduate studies programs.

It is worth mentioning that the signed agreement stipulated that the university joins the Saudi Digital Library membership which is the largest academic gathering of information resources in the Arab world. It includes over 200 million scientific articles, including 550,000 digital books and reference books, 160,000 journals, articles, dissertation, and multimedia conferences covering all academic disciplines.
