University Rector heads the second meeting of the Development Committee of the coast and tourist centers

Upon the request of His Royal Highness, Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdul-Aziz, King Khalid University (KKU), to carry out the comprehensive plan and the detailed plans for the development of the coast and tourist center in Asir region, the Committee held its second meeting under the chairmanship of the Rector of King Khalid University who is also the General supervisor of the development Committee of the coast and tourist centers, Prof. Dr. Faleh bin Rajaa Allah Al-Solamy. The meeting took place at the new headquarters of Prince Sultan bin Abdul-Aziz Center for Research and Environmental and Tourism Studies in Laassan.

The meeting was attended by the Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research who is also the Deputy Supervisor, Dr. Majid Al-Harbi, and Director of the Center of Prince Sultan bin Abdul-Aziz Center for Environmental Research and Tourism Studies in the University, who is also the head of the research team, Prof. Dr. Hussein Wadi'i, in addition to a number of members of the Committee.

Upon his arrival at the Prince Sultan Bin Abdul-Aziz Center for Research and Environmental and Tourism Studies in Lassan, the Rector of the KKU opened the Tourism Environment Exhibition at Headquarter and reviewed its contents. He also inaugurated the Center's logo and the Committee's website. Al-Solamy expressed his happiness with the progress achieved by the Center, praising the role of those who are in charge and stressing that this progress is the first step on success road of coastal development which is considered one of the priorities of the KKU. Rector Al-Solamy said that the university has worked since the first meeting to complete and implement the study, in cooperation with other official bodies, stressing the importance of involving all official and community groups, such as "youth", in crystallizing the visions on the study.

For his part, the head of the research team, Dr. Hussein Al-Wadai said that the second meeting of the Committee witnessed many directives, views, and aspirations of the Rector and the participating members as well. He pointed out that the second meeting stressed the follow-up of the first meeting report by reviewing what has been accomplished in the development of the coast And the tourism centers. He pointed out that there are many proposals to support the plan, presented by the members of the second meeting. These proposals are about means of development and priorities.  Dr. Al-Wadai stressed that the concerted efforts of the members of the Committee will provide high services at the level of individual and region, in addition to supporting the environment and tourism in the Kingdom in a wide range.

It is noteworthy that the study aims to set up the vision and the detailed comprehensive plans for the development of the coast "Alharidh, Qahmh, in addition to the touristic centers Sawalha, Omq, Thahban", as well as the centers of ", Sha'af, Tabab, Tamnyia, Alwadyian. the study is based on a commitment to exploit the sustainable development of natural resources and to promote the complementary relationship between the elements of the environment, tourism, and development in the region of Asir. It pursues assessment of the current status of the target sites, and future directions of official, private and community bodies, and then propose developmental plans, in which all governmental, private and community actors will get involved at all stages of the study.
