Heads and directors of universities and institutions of higher education in the Gulf States recommend the King's vision.

Participants of the 22nd meeting of the Presidents and Directors of universities and higher education institutions in the GCC countries have sent telegrams of thanks to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, to the Crown Prince, His Royal Highness, Prince Mohammed bin Nayef bin Abdul Aziz, and to the Deputy Crown Prince, His Royal Highness, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz, for the permanent support for the Gulf, Arab, and Islamic issues. This was stated as part of the recommendations from the meeting which was organized by the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, and hosted by the King Khalid University in Abha city during the past two days.

The Rector of King Khalid University, the Chair of the session, His Excellency, Prof. Faleh bin Rajaa Allah Al Solamy, has explained that the Commission approved a number of recommendations; notably the activation of vision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, on the strengthening of the GCC joint action, and to strengthen international cooperation, as well as the study of the strategic plan for cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research in the GCC countries.

Recommendations included a number of areas of concern, such as the private Supreme Council decision to adopt the vision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, on the strengthening the process of external action. In addition, participants recommended urging universities and higher education institutions in the GCC countries on holding programs for the study and development of higher education institutions in the GCC States, and to provide the Secretariat with experiences of universities and institutions of higher education, including on the allocation of academic programs for the study of complementary experience, and to encourage educational mobility and scientific research at universities and at the higher education institutions in the GCC countries.

On the strategic plan for cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, the participants recommended blessing and thanking the efforts of a working group that is preparing the strategic plan for cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research in the GCC countries. Moreover, they decided to hold a meeting of the Presidents and Directors of universities and higher education institutions in the GCC Secretariat general, after the adoption of the strategic plan to activate the mechanism of implementation. Conferees also discussed the decision of the equality of the people of the GCC countries in the admission and treatment in the universities and institutions of public higher education. In addition, the Conferees recommended circulating the general framework to promote the deployment of volunteer work in the culture of higher education, as well as promoting joint volunteer activity among the GCC countries.

In this context, the worksheet of Qatar on joint investment in education was discussed. The meeting recommended a study made by the King Khalid University on joint investment in education and the inclusion of the study in a workshop associated with the work of the meeting of the Committee of Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the GCC countries.

With regard to international cooperation, it propagated the recommendation that universities and higher education institutions should submit proposals to the Secretariat about strengthening the aspects of international cooperation of the universities, in order to be shown in the next meeting of the Committee of Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

With regard to the Gulf Information Base (Bridge), the participants recommended the need to provide Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research with required data to be updated periodically.

And about excellence in web design and development courses Award; conferees recommended annexation to the awards of the committee of chairmen and directors of universities and higher education institutions in the GCC countries.

With regard to the co-committees, conferees recommended activating the recommendations of the Commission on the deans of admission and registration. The Council also adopted criteria and mechanisms of the awards of honoring the secretariats of the Joint committees, in addition to the approval of the recommendations of the follow-up of the committee of students Affairs with special needs, and the choice of the King Abdul Aziz University to be the headquarter of the secretariat of the Committee at its first round.

The conferees have listened to the report of the award of the Committee of the heads and directors of universities and institutions of higher education which is provided by Princess Noura University. It was decided that the date of announcement of the winners of this award will be at the next meeting of the Committee.

Regarding the symposium of the committee of the chairmen and directors of universities and higher education institutions in the GCC countries, the Committee thanked the King Khalid University for organizing the ninth symposium under the title: "The binding mechanisms between scientific research and industry", and there will be a sort of coordination with the host university on the subject of the next seminar.

The Committee has also agreed to accept the invitation of His Excellency the Rector of Al Majmaah, Dr. Khalid Al Meqren, to host the next meeting.

It is worth mentioning that the King Khalid University has hosted the 22nd meeting of the heads and directors, deputies and agents of universities and institutions of higher education of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries for the Arab Gulf States during the past two days, with the participation of 35 universities and educational institutions from various GCC countries, in addition to a delegation from the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council for the Arab Gulf States, headed by the Assistant Secretary General, Abdullah Al-Shibli, while on the sidelines of the meeting, the university has organized a symposium entitled 'binding mechanisms between research and industry', with the participation of a number of officials and academicians.
