University hosts the 22nd meeting of the leaders of universities and higher education institutions in the Gulf Cooperation Council.

The Rector of King Khalid University (KKU) His Excellency, Prof. Faleh bin Rajaa Allah Al Solamy, will welcome leaders of the Gulf countries universities, who will be hosted by the King Khalid University next Sunday in Abha Palace Hotel in Asir region. The event is organized by the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

On this important event, His Excellency, Al Solamy pointed out that holding that meeting at the university confirmed that the cooperation of the Gulf States in the development of science and knowledge was a matter of pride, and that it would benefit students and university education in general.

For his part, The Assistant Secretary for Economic and Development Affairs of the Secretariat of the Cooperation Council, Abdullah Bin Juma Al-Shibli, has stressed that the King Khalid University kindly hosts the regular meeting of the committee of chairmen and directors of universities and institutions of higher education in the Arab Gulf states, which takes place from 29 to 30 Muharram 1438 AH, corresponding to 30 to 31 October 2016. The Assistant Secretary explained in a statement that the meeting would discuss several issues that are of interest to sons and daughters of higher education in the GCC states. In the forefront of these issues are, the resolution of the Supreme Council to adopt vision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, on the strengthening of the GCC joint action, and to discuss the submitted draft on the implementation of Qatar paper for joint investment in education, as well as a review on the draft of GCC database "bridge" in addition to what has been done to support the completion of the cooperative process. He added, "The Secretariat will hand Rectors of the universities, and directors of higher education institutions a report on what has been done about the follow-up and about the implementation of international cooperation program with countries and organizations."

It is noteworthy that the most important topics to be discussed is the proposal submitted by the team formed to study the strategic plan for cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research in the Gulf Cooperation Council. In addition, attendees will be briefed on the results of the work of the committee chairmen and directors of universities and higher education institutions in the GCC countries committees.
