Research and Studies Institute at King Khalid University organizes workshop in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

On behalf of the Rector of King Khalid University, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Dawood, the Vice President for High Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Majid bin Abdul Karim Al Harbi, sponsored a workshop on the fields of cooperation between King Khalid University ( KKU) and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Abha. In attendance at the occasion was the Deputy Chairman of Chmaber of Commerce Abha, Engineer Saleh Hussein Kadeh. The workshop was attended by a number of businessmen as well as interested people from the private sector. Among the dignitaries in attendance at the occasion were university vice presidents, Deans of concerned colleges, and the heads of offices of experience and research centers.

The workshop was opened by the Dean of Research and Consulting Studies Institute, who clarified the great importance which the university and the chamber seek from holding such meetings and workshops, in order to serve the targets of the educational sector and the private sector alike, in addition to promoting cooperation and communication between them, so as to achieve set objectives, and for the both parties to take advantage of the relationship.

Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Abha, Engineer Saleh Hussein Kadeh, used the occasion to stress on the need for joint communication to activate the aspirations of the chamber and the university to serve the region. He says, "The Chamber of Commerce is seeking to achieve cooperation with the university through a number of points, such as establishing an annual economic conference, cooperation for the establishment of economic workshops, and the establishment of counseling center with the participation of the chamber's and the University's practically qualified personnel."

The activities of the workshop began with a visual presentation by His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Hussein al-Obaid. The presentation was about the expertise at the University, and about the university's views on the Convention of cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce, as well as about the methods of activating and strengthen it. Dr. al-Obaid stressed on the need to involve the university in the actual participation with the private sector in the region, especially in areas of research, consulting, studies, and committees which are set by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as it is a place of experience, by virtue of its scientifically qualified staffs. 

After that, the Secretary General of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Abha provided a presentation on the views of the chamber and the private sector.

At the end of the workshop, the participants came out with a number of recommendations, including the need to establish a team work of the chamber and the university to follow the recommendations of the workshop, to observe the implementation of the agreement, and to agree on holding regular meetings in this regard.

The workshop also recommended the importance of holding an annual economic conference involving the university and the chamber, in addition, to proceed in the establishment of the Academy of Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurship Association with the participation of the university and the chamber, as well as the adoption of the proposed mechanisms of action by the Chamber in relation to the activation of joint work.
