University to Hold Conference on Media Strategies

Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, Governor Asir, King Khalid University, represented by the Communication and Media Department from the College of Humanities, will hold the third international 'Media and Crisis: Dimensions and Strategies' on the 13th and 14th of Rajab 1440/20-21 of March 2019.

 

King Khalid University Rector, His Excellency Prof. Falleh Al-Solamy, commended His Royal Highness for his generous sponsorship for the event. Rector Al-Solamy stressed that this conference is a result of the university's belief in the responsibility it holds towards regional and national issues. He explained that the conference aims to research and discuss the strategic dimensions applied to face media crises.

 

Vice Rector of Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Saad Al-Amri, confirmed that this conference is centered on the role of media in crisis situations and the methods of reporting crises in media. The conference will also discuss a number of strategies to handle crises in media and to control the image and credibility of the news reported. He stressed that the organizing committee of the conference has completed all preparations and attracted a number of professionals from the field who will discuss the latest developments in the field of media and communication.

 

Dean of the College of Humanities, Dr. Yahya Al-Shareef, explained that the conference will discuss major media issues and witness the participation of international experts and professionals. He added that the role of media in reporting crises and news must be taken seriously. Dean Al-Shareef pointed out that the conference aims to discuss the impact it has on day to day life.

 

In the same context, Director of the Conference Scientific Committee, Dr. Ali Al-Qarni, added that this conference is considered one of the most important conferences the university will sponsor due to the current regional and international topics to be discussed. He noted that two sessions will be held as part of the conference activities. He further noted that this conference is the third conference to be held by the Department of Media and Communication.
