13 students from King Khalid University participated in the 11th season of archeological excavation at the Jarash Archaeologic Site. Jarash is located 15 kilometers south of Khamis Mushait. As part of the continuation of archaeological excavations at Jarash, Khamis Mushait Community College Vice Dean, Dr. Ali bin Abdullah Al-Marzoqi, led the student team.

Al-Marzoqi explained that the participation is directed by His Excellency King Khalid University Rector, Prof. Falleh R. M. Al-Solamy, and tacit guidance by the Saudi Commission for Tourism & National Heritage. He highlighted the efforts of the student excavation team, which was formed by the Industrial and Architectural Engineering Departments in the Faculty of Engineering, the Community College, the College of History, and the College of Law. He added that the experience has allowed the participating students to gain the skills needed to identify and record the methods of archeology.

Al-Marzoqi stressed that Jarash is amongst the country's most important archaeological sites and one of the most important in the history of the Arabian Peninsula. He affirmed that it was a trade path that connected the northern and southern parts of the Arabian Peninsula. Al-Marzoqi detailed that Jarash features a fortress, a mosque, and 3000-year-old relics designed and decorated with lion and bull patterns that symbolize strength. The location also boasts a center that allows visitors to learn about the location and what it represented.

Al-Marzoqi thanked HRH Prince Sultan bin Salman, president of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH), and His Excellency Rector Al-Solamy for the great opportunity to continue excavations.
