Cybersecurity: Challenges and Aspirations Symposium

In the frame of global events and rapid digital growth, the College of Computer Science organized a symposium titled 'Cybersecurity: Challenges and Aspirations'. Delivered by the Director of Cybersecurity and Anti-Cybercrime Unit, Dr. Sara Hadi Abu Ghazalah, the symposium was planned in collaboration with the Computer Science Student Club, the Digital Minds Student Club, and the Cybersecurity and Anti-Cybercrime Student Club.

The symposium witnessed a large number of attendees. Of note, Vice Rector of Scientific Research and Advisory Studies, Dr. Saad Al-Amry, College of Computer Science Dean, Dr. Ali Khrawi, and a number of illustrious deans, vice deans, and faculty members were all in attendance.

In the symposium, Dr. Abu Ghazala discussed the importance of cybersecurity and cautioned that public sector organizations in the Kingdom face unprecedented risk from cyber attacks and data breaches. King Khalid University is a leader among all Saudi universities in this field she related. This was followed with proposed methods of prevention in accord with Vision 2030.

On his part, Dean Khrawi explained that the symposium comes within the university community service initiatives offered by the College of Computer Science and the Cybersecurity and Anti-Cybercrime Unit, which are keen on contributing to the spread of digital awareness in society, especially with the rapid uptick in phishing attacks, ransomware invasions, trojan horse strikes, and many other serious cyber threats.

It is worth mentioning that King Khalid university prioritizes the field of cybersecurity offering it great attention through a number of academic and administrative strategies it was explained, noting that a recent University Council decision issued the transition of the Cybersecurity and Anti-Cyber Unit to the Cybersecurity and Anti-Cybercrime Center.
