KKU to Host Workshop on the Executive Prevention Plan Against Drug Use

Sponsored by the Governor of the Asir Region, HRH Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz, King Khalid University will host a workshop entitled "The Executive Prevention Plan Against Drug Use in the Asir Region." The National Committee for Narcotics Control will organize the event under the support and supervision of the Asir Region Emirate, with the participation of more than 23 governmental entities, during the 23rd and 24th of this month.

This workshop aims to identify the role implemented by the participating entities in drug prevention, the obstacles and challenges that limit their effectiveness, and the need to answer and increase the level of executive performance through a shared plan that secures effective outcomes.

The workshop will address several topics that include the characteristics of drug abuse, the number of drug cases in the region, the amount of substances found, the number of addicts, the factors that contribute to the spread of drug use, the relationship between drugs and crime, the number of addicts convicted in connection with drug crimes, the number of addicts seeking treatment and rehabilitation, and the role of the participating entities in preventing drug use.

A detailed report on the data and information discussed in the workshop, the results of questionnaires, the recommendations, and proposals to improve the effectiveness of social influence-based drug prevention programs will be prepared in the post-workshop proceedings.
