The Deanship of Graduate Studies organized a workshop for graduate students entitled "Scientific Thesis and Research Project: From an Idea to a Discussion." The workshop was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Maflah Al-Qahtani and Dr. Ahmed Al-Ghamdi.

The Dean of Graduate Studies at the University, Dr. Ahmed Bin Yahya Al-Faya, explained that the workshop falls within the framework of the Deanship's interest in maintaining training programs in support of primary scientific output.  Noting that the deanship held a research ethics workshop in the previous semester, Al-Faya pointed out that the Deanship is working to develop support programs to train students on a continual basis. It was also noted that there are future plans for a scientific forum for postgraduate students at the university in the next academic year.

The topics of the workshop included: guidance and supervision, the duty of each faculty member and student, the idea of the research, the problem of the study and its limitations, previous studies, formulation of the research plan, the stages of validation of research and method of scientific documentation.

The faculty members who presented the workshop based their knowledge on a number of references including the executive rules of the Graduate Studies Board of Education in addition to scientific research methods, scientific references, and magazines.

The workshop was presented by Dr. Ahmed Saleh Qataran from the Faculty of Shari'a and Fundamentals of Religion, Dr. Alaa Ahmed from the Faculty of Humanities, and Dr. Abdullah bin Saad Al-Omari from the Faculty of Education.
