Arabic Language Department celebrates Arabic Language Day.

The Department of Arabic Language has organized a celebration for the Arabic Language World day, in cooperation with innovation committee and Pen Club at the Humanities College. The celebration was attended by the Dean of the College of Humanities, Dr. Yahia Al Sharief, in addition to the college's vice deans, heads of departments, faculty members and students.

The celebration witnessed holding a workshop entitled "Contemporary issues of the Arabic Language," in which a group of professors discussed a number of current issues in the Arab Language. In addition, there were scientific sessions held at the occasion.

The workshop was managed by the Chairman of the Department of Arabic Language, Dr. Abdulrahman Al Mohsany. A member from the Medical College, Dr. Hesham Mohammed Mohaba, started the scientific session with a research paper entitled "Alphabet frequencies comparison between the Koran and Arabic texts study." After that, there was a study submitted by Dr. Hussein Refat Awad, from the College of Humanities, entitled, "Distributional treatments in Arabic grammar." This study paper was followed by another long study about "Arabic Language problems and how to overcome them." specifically grammatical problems with university students. This study was presented by Dr. Abdulkarim Ali Oufy. The activities of the workshop were finalized by the presentation of a research by Dr. Yasser Al Daroush, it is entitled, "Visions in the Arabization of some contemporary Arabic terms"

The attending professors reacted with the workshop in which they submitted papers through running a discussion and asking questions. After that, there was a poetry meeting which was organized by Innovation Committee of the Department of Arabic Language. In this meeting, the faculty members' poets and students presented a number of their poems on the occasion. Ebrahim Hagri, - a Student from the graduate studies - started with a poem about the Arabic Language. Next, Dr. Ahmed Al tehani presented poetry selections. Similarly, Dr. Khalid Abbas Mustafa presented his poem in which he started with poetic entrances and glimpses. Then, Dr. Taher Al jeloub presented a number of poetic texts from his poem entitled "Bough and the grave." After that, Prof. Abdulhamed Al Hessami read a number of short participation including a poem about Abha and another about Ta'ez.

Student participation

Bachelor degree students from the Department of Arabic Language participated in the poems. A poet - Student Abdullah Magdough - participated with two poems, the first was about Syria, and the second was about the Arabic Language. Moreover, student Ghasan Ismaeel Al Shahrani, presented two texts, followed by a poetic text provided by student - Muhammed Mefrah - which got the approval from the attendees.  

The poetic gathering was ended by a new poem about the Arabic Language and its rhetorical aspect, presented by Dr. Metlak Sha'e. It should be noted that the gathering was headed by Ibrahim Abu Taleb, the member in the Innovation Committee, who made a poetic presentation too.

Book Fair

On the margins of the celebration, there was a book fair which included works for the teaching staff in the Department of Arabic Language. To end the celebrations of the occasion, the teaching staff of the department showed a collection of their works, which were like a present for the attendees.
