University launches its fourth educational, health, and awareness program

Under the patronage of His Royal Highness, the Governor of Asir Region, Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdul Aziz - may God preserve him - King Khalid University (KKU) today (Sunday) launches the activities of its fourth health, educational, and awareness program. The launching takes place in Thrban Center, Majardh, and it will hold over the whole week. On the occasion of the launch, the Rector of King Khalid University, who is also the Supervisor of the program, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Dawood offered his thanks and gratitude to His Royal Highness, Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdul Aziz, the Governor of Asir Region, for his continuous support and unwavering follow-up to all the activities of the university.  The Rector also clarified that the effectiveness that came in the fourth year of the program was an evidence on the interest of the university to exert its best efforts for the people of the region through the provision of all health, awareness, and educational services, in order to contribute to raising the cultural, religious and intellectual awareness among members of the community. Rector Al Dawood said, "The University is determining actively in providing community-based programs which have been studied carefully to meet the needs of the community, to achieve development, and to meet the aspirations of the community." He added, "The university's relationship to its community is a sort of ongoing partnership relationship. Therefore, the university has identified strategic targets and ambitious plans to strengthen this relationship with the community. Thus, the consecutive successes of the university in this direction were only steps in a long journey that still carries a lot of creative ideas and pioneering developmental programs." Rector Al Dawood wished the year's program to achieve the expected aspirations of the program's holders, and to achieve similar successes that had been gained in the past three sessions. Rector Al Dawood stated, "The program will include specialized medical and therapeutic convoys, in addition to distinctive educational and awareness programs. The university will harness all its potential and crews for the success of this program, God willing, the program will make a sustainable development, and benefit everyone"

For his part, the University Vice - President, Dr. Marei Bin Hussein Al-Qahtani, who is also the Deputy General Supervisor of the program, confirmed that the program was carried out by more than 261 of the university specialized, academic, administrative, and technical cadres.  The program will also witness participation of a number of service and operational activities, in addition to a number of mobile clinics and various needed appliances, with a pharmacy that contains more than 200 kinds of medications. His excellency the Vice - President added that the program would include 187 medical clinics in different specializations, which would provide all necessary services, as well as a number of laboratories and rays labs. The program would also provide lectures, visual presentations, training sessions as well as field surveys, workshops and sermons in mosques. Dr Marei further stated thus, "The University is going to harness all its efforts, with the help of its crews, to provide its services to the people of Majardh province. Therefore, a number of colleges will participate in the activities. They include the Faculty of Sharia, the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Dentistry, the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, the Faculty of Languages and Translation, and the Faculty of Nursing in Khamis Mushayt, in addition to the Deanship of community service and the Medical City".

Through holding this program, the University seeks to touch the needs of the community in various intellectual, health, and awareness areas. The University also seeks to deepen its relationship and its partnership with the community and to meet their multiple needs.  Moreover, the move comes to prove the King Khalid University's belief in its important societal role, and that it shoulders much responsibility towards the society in various fields. Thus, the University urges all the people of Majardah to take advantage of the services being provided. 

This is the fourth round of the program after having achieved successes in a row in the past three years, which took place in the provinces of Tihama Qahtan, Tathleeth, and Mahayel Asir. The previous three rounds of the program had achieved great successes especially that there were large numbers of citizens and residents who benefited from the provided services. More than 15,000 people benefited from the first round of the program, and the program in its second round tried successfully to cover all regions and centers of Tathleeth province. In the third round of the program, the number of those who benefited from it was more than 27,000 while it is expected that the fourth round of the program will provide services to a larger segment of the community.

It is worth mentioning that the program has chosen Majardh province to be the location of its fourth round based on a number of studies and surveys which were prepared and undertaken recently by specialists in this area. Furthermore, Majardh province is one of the most important provinces of the region where the population of the province and its affiliated centers are more than 53,000 people. Four centers are affiliates to Majardah Province. They are Abs, Khat, Khthbh, and Thrban.
