"Nothing but your Blood Sugar" campaign.
Last Friday, King Khalid University Vice - President for Health Specialties, and the Consultant of Family Medicine Prof. Khalid bin Saad Aljelban inaugurated an awareness campaign about Diabetes condition. The campaign which was under the slogan "Nothing but your Blood Sugar", was organized by the volunteering Work Club of the Deanship of Student Affairs. The venue was Aseer Mall in Abha.
After the opening, Aljelban gave a word showing how to live with Diabetes, and its preventive methods. He also thanked those who contributed to the campaign, which will contribute to educate the community of the dangers of this deadly condition.
On the occasion, the Media Spokesman and the Head of the Media Committee of the volunteering Club, Zamel Al-Shahrani stated that the campaign was to raise awareness of Diabetes. Through the campaign, they tried to make some related examinations: measure blood sugar, blood pressure, and calculate body mass. After that, they checked carefully the results of each visitor, so as to be able to provide full needed advice. He said, "The number of visitors reached approximately 500, (male and female). The campaign was from 4:30 pm to 10:30 pm."
It is noteworthy that the exhibition was divided into two sections; a section for male patients, which was over seen by students from the faculty of medicine, in addition another separated section for females, which was over seen by female students of the faculty of Medicine of the University.
