"Beekeeping and Bee Products" Training Program.

The Bee Research Unit at King Khalid University, launched a training program entitled "Beekeeping and Bee Products" in cooperation with  the Aramco company and the Beekeepers Cooperative Society in Rijal Alma, the initiative aims to train 160 people.

The supervisor of the Bee Research and Honey Production Unit at King Khalid University, Prof. Hamid bin Ali Al Gharamah, explained  that the cooperation between Aramco and the university aims to train and qualify trainees, through teaching them the theoretical side of the profession, which will be presented by specialized professors from the university, in addition to training them on the practical skills of bee keeping in the unit's labs.

Al Gharamah, also confirmed that the unit is ready to organize any training program related to beekeeping and bee products, since the unit is keen on investing in human resources to align with the university’s goals and the Kingdom’s 2030 vision. 

On his part, the Dean of the Deanship of Community Service and Continuous Education Deanship, Prof. Omar bin Alwan Aqeel, explained that the cooperation between the deanship and external entities, serves the community and prepares Saudi youth for the job market, adding that the kingdom's bee products market is one of the most promising global markets, and a good source of investment.

The Bee Research and Honey Production Unit at King Khalid University includes a practical research apiary, and four labs to analyze honey and bee products, diagnose bee diseases, raise queen bees, and produce bee venom. 

It's worth noting, that the Bee Research Unit, at the beginning of February 2021, organized a training program in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (Asir branch), and the Nahal Association, to qualify Saudi youth to work in the craft of beekeeping and honey production.
