Prof.His Royal Highness Asir’s Prince sponsors launching a 100 bed COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit to the Medical City at King Khalid University
His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud The Governor of Asir Region sponsors on Wednesday morning the launching ceremony of a 100 bed ICU for patients with COVID-19 at the Medical City in Al-Qara’a. The Ceremony was attended by His Excellency the Minister of Health Dr. Tawfig AlRabiah, and His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Education for Universities, Research and Innovation Prof. Muhammad Al-Sudairy, and His Excellency the University President Prof. Faleh bin Raja Allah Al-Sulami.
His Royal Highness Asir’s Prince started the ceremony which took place on the fifth floor of the Medical City’s Hospital which includes 100 ICU. He was briefed on mechanisms of the work through an introductory tour that was attended by their Excellencies the Minister of Health, the Deputy Minister of Education for Universities, Research and Innovation, and the University President.
At the beginning of the ceremony, His Royal Highness praised the achievement, pointing to the importance of the leadership structure in implementing it. He stressed on the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques - may Allah protect him - and the government’s directions to provide comfort for the citizens. His Highness thanked His Excellency the Minister of Education, His Excellency the Minister of Finance, His Excellency the Minister of Health, and His Excellency the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development for their fruitful cooperation. He also thanked His Excellency the University President and his team for their efforts to complete this project in a short period of time, as well as the health affairs team in Asir region, and the company which implemented the project.
His Royal Highness Asir’s Prince stressed on his great interest in the university city. He pointed he held meetings with contractors, and frequent meetings will be held as of next November in order to tackle all matters related to the university city.
His Excellency the Minister of Health explained a 100 bed COVID-19 ICU to the Medical City is a special addition to the region. He confirmed health services are a priority for our leadership to achieve all means of comfort and reassurance for citizens in the COVID-19 pandemic that made the Kingdom among the best countries in the world in dealing with this pandemic. He thanked His Royal Highness for supervising implementing and launching health institutions. He also thanked the Minister of Education Prof. Hamad Al Al-Sheikh, for his support and interest in supporting the health sector in Asir through this facility.
His Excellency the President of King Khalid University Prof. Falleh bin Raja Allah Al-Sulami welcomed His Highness the Governor of the region, His Excellency the Minister of Health, His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Education for Universities, Research and Innovation, and all attendees. He confirmed the integration between all the entities makes us capable of challenging, and the crises create opportunities. He pointed preparing 100 bed COVID-19 ICU in one month instead of six months was a challenge. He praised His Highness’s efforts in coordinating, integrating, stimulating the entities’ capabilities. Launching this project in the new University City in Al-Qara’a is a beginning to a new phase in community service. He stressed everyone in Asir has high hopes and confidence in their leadership to continue completing the University City which will contribute in raising educational and medical services.
