University to train 200 members of the teaching staff..

The Dean of Academic Development and Quality of King Khalid University, Dr. Marzn bin Odah Al-Shahrani, has explained that the Vice - Presidency for Development and Quality, represented by the Deanship of Academic Development and Quality, has trained 200 faculty members (men / women). Earlier, 5 training programs aimed at developing the professional skills of the faculty members took place in Dubai, in thew United Arab Emirate.

The first program was entitled "designing and building e-courses", and it aimed at providing the trainees with scientific knowledge and practical skills in the designing and deployment of various e-courses. Through this training program, trainees gained several skills, such as creating a website for the educational courses, the creation and designing of an e-course with its various parts: content - activities - examinations - evaluation, the creation and designing of content in accordance with the interactive standards, the creation and design of interactive e-books, the creation and design of video clips, and finally the management of electronic courses. The second program was entitled "strategic leadership in higher education". The goal of this program was to develop the positive knowledge, skills, and the attitudes of participants about the strategic leadership and excellence in higher education institutions. During that program, trainees identified the concept of leadership and strategy, in addition to a leader's practical roles and characteristics. Other things identified included the acquisition of building and implementing a strategy skill, and the steps to follow to build a strategic plan. The third program was entitled "the use of modern technologies in university teaching", and the goals of this were to develop participants' information and skills in the use of modern teaching techniques, and forming positive trends for application in university teaching. In detail, the third program aimed at providing trainees with knowledge of the principles of educational design, in addition to training them to write a scenario for educational software, the implementation of interactive educational software in the field of specialization, the complete knowledge on how to deal with Google Apps, and the creation of forms and electronic examinations. The fourth program was entitled "active learning strategies", and its goals were to provide the participants with needed knowledge, skills, and attitudes for the application of active learning strategies in university teaching, to make the student the center of the educational process, to deepen the knowledge he or she has, and to develop positive attitudes towards educational materials, and the development of different thinking skills. The last program was entitled "the use of social networks in university teaching". it aimed at informing trainees about most prominent e-learning tools in the twenty-first century, and how to activate and apply them in university teaching.
