At the launching ceremony of the Saudi Resources Network for Open Educational Resources (Shams), which was sponsored by His Excellency the Minister of Education, Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Issa, and organized by the National Center for e-Learning (NCeL) at the Ministry of Education, King Khalid University received five awards in numerous categories at the level of national universities. His Excellency Rector Al-Solamy expressed his profound contentment with the university's achievement of a number of excellence awards in the field of e-learning. The Vice Dean for Academic and Educational Affairs, Dr. Saad Al-Dajjam, commented that these awards are the result of the continuous work and cooperation between the Deanship of e-Learning and the rest of the university faculties in enriching electronic content.

On the individual level, Dr. Amir Mohammed Kessentini, assistant professor at the Faculty of Engineering, received the Excellence Award in e-Learning for national universities in the production category. Dr. Halima Al-Saidi from the Faculty of Science also won the Excellence Award in e-Learning in the same category.
On this occasion, the Dean of e-Learning, Dr. Fahad bin Abdullah Al-Ahmari, congratulated the Rector and all of the university's employees on this achievement. He emphasized that these achievements are deeply rooted in teamwork and advanced technical capabilities with a drive to succeed.
The e-Learning Excellence Award in its current edition is dedicated to the National Open Learning Content Program, which is supervised by the NCeL. The participation of educational institutions from universities and education departments has resulted in providing more than 80,000 educational resources currently available on Shams. This award aims to spread the culture of excellence in e-learning and to improve it; most prominently, in relation to open educational resources.
The award included three branches: the first was the Excellence Award in e-Learning for Educational Institutions; the second was the Excellence Award in e-Learning for Shams Representatives; and the third was the Excellence Award in e-Learning for Governmental, Private, and Volunteer Institutions.
As part of the initiatives of the Deanship of e-learning at King Khalid University, which places a central focus on open learning coupled with a relentless pursuit of cementing the aspirations of Vision 2030 to contribute to the provision of opportunities for science and learning for all while providing participants the necessary skills to achieve their goals, the Deanship has recently launched KKUx platform. Its mission is to effectively contribute to providing the most critical skills for future jobs with global-quality electronic content that substantially benefit hopeful job seekers or anyone who wants to develop their skills. This initiative is the first of its kind at the level of the Kingdom's universities in terms of its focus on "skills of the future" based on Vision 2030. One of its axes focuses on "learn to work" in order to propel the economy forward by focusing on the development of necessary skills and personal talents.
The University seeks to help all relevant stakeholders in acquiring quality skills and personal talents that form the baseline skills needed to build a prosperous and happy future.

King Khalid University is no longer limited to publishing its online content on a limited scale because it has grown to the international level. After the successful launch ten months ago by the University Rector, His Excellency Dr. Faleh Bin Rajaa Allah Al-Solamy, the platform successfully made qualitative partnerships with four partners:
General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises
- British Council
- Chamber of Commerce in Abha
- Rizq Entrepreneurship in partnership with Ghlo
A number of technical courses were offered during this period:
- IELTS Preparation (2 sessions)
- Basics of establishing start-ups (3 Courses)
- Design Thinking (2 sessions)
More than 5,000 trainees from inside and outside the Kingdom benefited from these courses, and in the survey of beneficiaries, the satisfaction rate exceeded 97%.
Continuing to introduce new and diverse skills, KKUx is announcing the launch of three quality skills courses during the first quarter of 2018 with the following titles:
- User Experience (10-1-2018 to 9-2-2018)
- Exploring the World of Entrepreneurship (1-2-2018 to 28-2-2018) a new and qualitative entrepreneurship course in collaboration with the General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and a trainer from the World Bank Group.
- Arabic Calligraphy (1-3-2018 to 31-3-2018)

The initiative was inaugurated and launched by His Excellency the Rector of King Khalid University, Prof. Dr. Faleh Bin Rajaa Allah Al-Solamy. We aim to diversify the experiences of our sons and daughters and provide them with a broad range of in-demand skills that are required for future jobs."
For his part, the Dean of e-Learning at King Khalid University, Dr. Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Ahmari, said, "King Khalid University is no longer limited to merely spreading the contents of its courses on the internet, but has expanded its reach to help those who wish to learn an opportunity to acquire quality skills and personal talents in order to achieve and build a prosperous and happy future."

His Excellency, Prof. Faleh Bin Rajaa Allah Al Solami, the Director of King Khalid University, launched the KKU Educational platform Initiative, which is a qualitative initiative at the university level. Moreover, the initiative is in line with the aspirations of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to contribute to providing science and learning opportunities for all and giving users the necessary skills to enable them to achieve their objectives. The initiative contributes effectively in providing the most important skills for the future jobs with a high-quality, international content that will benefit the future job seeker or anyone who wants to develop his/her skills. The opening ceremony began with an introductory video about KKU initiative submitted by the Deanship of e-learning.
The Dean of e-learning Deanship, Dr. Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Ahmari, gave an overview of the initiative, in which he explained that the university is achieving clear and tangible achievements in the fields of e-learning. He said, "The KKU initiative is one of the specific initiatives at the university level".
After that, there was a launch of "Tazamn" platform and the launch of "Lighboard" technology as part of the creative solutions to develop and facilitate e-learning process. The Vice-Dean of the e-learning Deanship submitted a presentation on this new technology.

The Director of the University also expressed his happiness with the services he witnessed and the modern technical means in the Deanship, praising the efforts of the employees. He said, "I am pleased with the educational services and initiatives offered by this Deanship to the University in all its branches and employees." Noting that the university administration will not hesitate to provide full support to the Deanship for the advancement of the educational process. He added, "Depending on what I have noticed of services provided by the Deanship of e-Learning, I am looking forward to achieving distinguished position at the level of local and international universities, and we, at King Khalid University, are concentrated intensively our aspirations and our future plans in the side of e-learning, which will contribute to the success of the University by virtue of the number of students and the number of branches"
At the end of the visit, the Deanship of e-Learning honored success partners and distinctive colleges in applying e-learning at the university.
King Khalid University, represented by the Deanship of e-learning achieved the first and second places in the grade of Excellence Award (third edition). This is as a result of using social networks in teaching at the university. The Excellence grading was conducted during the 4th International Conference on e-Learning.
Commenting on this development, the Dean of e-Learning, Dr. Abdullah Alwalidi stated that the results achieved by the university came as follows:
Dr. Nelly Alamrosi got the first place of Excellence award in the use of social networks in teaching at the university, while the second place in the same area was achieved by Prof. Farooq Haji.
It is noteworthy that the Deanship of e-learning of King Khalid University was established in 1426 AH, as part of the unwavering effort of the university to adopt the latest scientific methods of teaching, which aim at developing the educational process.
The 4th International Conference on e-learning and distance education, which has been sponsored by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud - may God preserve him - approved the participation of King Khalid University. The Dean of e-learning Dr. Abdullah Al-Walidi announced this, and further added that the participation of the university included a number of research papers and initiatives for presentation within the scientific program of the conference, in addition to training workshops. It is noteworthy that The Conference is taking place in Riyadh from 11 to 14 Jummada Alola, 1436 AH, corresponding to 2 - 5 March 2015 AD. During the sessions of the 4th International Conference on e-learning and Remote Education, King Khalid University will participate with four research papers. The first worksheet entitled "An overview of the open book examination via Blackboard under learning management system", will be presented by Dr. Khalid Al-Muhanna (Deanship of e-learning). The second worksheet will be presented by Mr. Muhammed Jar Allah Alhabbabi (Deanship of e-learning). It is entitled "Learning how to be educated electronically - online training for the development of e-learning skills to the students of King Khalid University". The third worksheet which will be presented by Prof. Ahmed Sadeq (College of Education) is entitled "The effectiveness of a proposed training program that is based on mobile learning to develop the skills of learning engagement, and to design digital learning modules". Dr. ghada Alsherbini (College of Education for Girls in Abha) will present the last worksheet which is entitled "The activation of Education via the service of an e-learning system in Saudi universities."
4 initiatives of the University in the Conference
King Khalid University, represented by the Deanship of e-learning, the College of Education and the University Centre for the Study of the Girl students will present four Initiatives in the conference. The first initiative entitled "International Cooperative teaching at King Khalid University" will be presented by Dr. Abdullah Almohaya (College of Education) and Mr. Nasser Haddadi (Deanship of e-learning). The second initiative is under the title "The development of courses in general and open electronic courses in particular of King Khalid University", is to be presented by Mr. Abdullah Nasser Rosa (Deanship of e-learning). The third initiative will be presented by Dr. Hala Sameer (The University Centre for the Study of the Girl Students). It is entitled "Ideas and experiences in e-learning". The last is " MOOC initiative: Using Computer in Education - the first course with a massive enrollment in Arabic. " This will be presented by Dr. Mustafa Ibrahim (College of Education).
Within the conference axis "Innovative education for a promising future", and on the sidelines of the training workshops program, two training workshops of King Khalid University were approved for presentation. The first is "Design courses in e-learning systems and development" which will be persented by Dr. Muhammed Jar Allah Alhabbabi (Deanship of e-learning). The second workshop is to be presented by Mr. Ahmed Albarqi. It is entitled "Digital electronic publishing" (Community College).
