On behalf of His Excellency, the Rector of King Khalid University, the University Vice-President for Educational and Academic Affairs, Dr. Saad Bin Dajjam, sponsored the opening ceremony of the symposium "The Monuments of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia." The symposium was organized by the Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Center for Environmental and Tourism Research and Studies, in cooperation with the General Authority for Tourism and National Heritage in the Aseer Region. It took place in the University City of Abha.

Prior to the opening ceremony, Dr. Dajjam was briefed on the exhibition accompanying the symposium, through which many archaeological sites and museums in the Asir region were presented. The exhibition also included a brief description of the most important archaeological activities in the region.

At the beginning of the opening ceremony, an introductory video presentation about the Aseer region and its monuments was presented. The presentation discussed the importance of National Heritage Locations and its connection towards realizing Vision 2030, and the roles played by the General Authority for Tourism and National Heritage to preserve the Kingdom's monuments, in addition to the role of the Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz Center for Environmental and Tourism Research and Studies of King Khalid University in preserving the monuments of the region and the research and studies provided by it.

With this in mind, the Director of the Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Center for Research and Environmental Studies and Tourism at the University, Professor Hussein Al-Wadai, related in his speech that the center supervises holding this symposium and its accompanying exhibition in conjunction with the "First Convention of Antiquities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," which is being held under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. He added that the establishment of this convention is a key indicator illustrating the Kingdom's interest in preserving Islamic monuments and cultural heritage, which strengthens the establishment of such archaeological events to identify the importance, restoration, and preservation.

Correspondingly, the University's Vice-President for Academic and Educational Affairs, the patron of the ceremony, said that the organization of this symposium is part of the university's tireless efforts to serve the community in support of the success of the Kingdom's First Antiques Convention in Riyadh. He also thanked the General Authority for Tourism and National Heritage in the Aseer Region for their efforts and cooperation with the university in all that would promote the regional tourism and heritage.

The symposium included four scientific papers presented by a number of specialists at the University, discussing the diversity and richness of the drawings and rock inscriptions in the Kingdom, as well as Wadi Aya in the Aseer region as an archeological and heritage site, in addition to the importance of archaeological discovery to identify the monuments in the region and what is that state of tourism in accordance with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

4th Scientific Forum on the History of King Khalid

Under the patronage of His Royal Highness, Governor of the Asir Region, Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, the King Khalid Chair for Scientific Research will organize the Fourth Scientific Forum on the History of King Khalid, entitled “The Social Aspects of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Era of King Khalid Bin Abdulaziz (1395 - 1402 AH / 1975 - 1982 AD).

It will be held over two days from the 4th to 5th of Rabi' Al-Awwal corresponding to 22 - 23 November 2017 AD at Abha Palace Hotel.

His Excellency the Rector of King Khalid University, Prof. Dr. Faleh bin Rajaa Allah Al-Solamy, expressed on behalf of himself and all University staff, his sincerest condolences to His Royal Majesty, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz, to His Royal Highness, Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman, to Prince Muqrin bin Abdul Aziz, and to the Governor of the Aseer Region, Prince Faisal bin Khalid on the tremendous loss of His Royal Highness Prince Mansour bin Muqrin and all of his companions. They had a helicopter crash yesterday evening while conducting their national duty. Rector Al-Solamy said, “ We can’t say nothing more than to ask Allah to bestow mercy and forgiveness on the dead.” He further highlighted the role that was played by HRH Prince Mansour who was the Deputy Governor of the Aseer Region. Prince Mansour gave his undivided attention to King Khalid University. Recently, he visited the University City and sponsored the Book Fair. Furthermore, HRH Prince Mansour was an instrumental voice of support for the University to all relevant stakeholders in the Kingdom. 

Al-Solamy concluded his speech confirming that the country lost one of its promising leaders who was qualified and performed his duty eagerly. “We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return,” he concluded.

His Excellency, the Rector of King Khalid University, Prof. Dr. Faleh bin Rajaa Allah Al-Solamy, considered the Custodian’s Royal resolution a historic event in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The new anti-corruption formed by His Royal Majesty, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz,  acted with precision under its primary mandate to identify offenses, crimes, persons, and entities involved in cases of public corruption. His Excellency, the Rector of King Khalid University, added that people are genuinely overjoyed with the resolution which illustrates the profound wisdom of His Royal Majesty and His Royal Highness. Rector Al-Solamy pointed out that fighting corruption is a principal characteristic of any civilized society. Fighting corruption will ensure social justice and genuine equality for everyone. His Royal Highness, Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman, asserted this matter earlier when he said that no one would be exempt from justice.

The Royal Decree allows for clear direction towards transparency and questioning and was issued at a time the Kingdom is launching numerous projects. Rector Al-Solamy explained, “It appears that the decree would run after all crimes of corruption that were committed in the past but, at the same time, the decree will be an interface to the future. The decree sends a clear message to everyone; justice has hands and could punish those who dare think to encroach on public or private properties. I am confident that we will receive the benefits and positive actions of this historic decree soon.”    

Bader Program Introduction Forum on Technology Incubators

In cooperation with the Bader Program, King Khalid University is pleased to invite you to attend the Bader Program Introduction Forum on Technology Incubators. It will be held on Tuesday 25/2/1439 AH (corresponding to 14/11/217 AD), at 09:30 am.

For the males, it will take place in Auditorium 6 (Central Auditorium Building).

For the females, it will take place in the Dentistry Hall at the Guraiger Campus.

The Deanship of Academic Development and Quality is arranging numerous training courses in the current University year for both men and women. The training courses aim at improving the skills of the teaching staff at King Khalid University. Furthermore, the training courses aim at spreading the quality culture university-wide. Indeed, a number of courses have been implemented such as Quality Guarantee which was submitted by the Vice-President of the Academic Development and Quality Deanship, Dr. Saeed bin Saad Al-Hady, and attended by Deans, Vice-Deans, and Coordinators. During the course, Dr. Al-Hady reviewed the standards of the institutional and academic accreditation. He also praised some of the programs presented in the university, which have stepped forward to obtain programmatic accreditation. 

The program will include a training workshop on the program itself. It is, in fact, one of the most important programs in the creative thinking learning programs. In addition, the workshop will present the program tools, conduct practical demonstrations, and complete technical exercises.

Given these points, His Excellency, the Dean of the Academic Development and Quality Deanship, Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Hajiri, confirmed that the training program comes as part of the University's strategic plan to initiate systematic and comprehensive training programs in order to enhance the skills and academic abilities of teaching staff in the university. He added that the program includes many areas such as quality and accreditation, human resource development, and teaching strategies of modern methodologies.

In Conjunction with the First Archaeological Convention of Riyadh

Under the patronage of His Excellency, the Rector of King Khalid University, Dr. Faleh Bin Rajaa Allah Al-Solamy, the Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Center for Environmental and Tourism Research and Studies will organize a symposium on the archeology of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Monday, February 17 at the Central Stadium in the University City of Abha.

The symposium will be held in cooperation with the branch of the National Authority for Tourism and National Heritage in the Aseer Region, in conjunction with the First Archeology Convention of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which will be held in Riyadh from 18-20 February, under the umbrella of the Custodian’s program to preserve the national heritage of the Kingdom.

The Director of Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Center for Environmental and Tourism Research and Studies at the University, Prof. Dr. Hussien Al-Wad’I, indicated that the symposium received considerable attention from His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of the Aseer Region and his Deputy, HRH Prince Mansour bin Muqrin bin Abdul Aziz. The symposium is designed to raise awareness and to enhance the national perception of the monuments of the Kingdom and the Aseer region while transforming the role of archeology into a community issue.

The symposium will discuss four research-oriented proposals, which will be submitted by a number of King Khalid University professors and experts who are interested in archeology. An introductory exhibition will accompany the symposium. Lastly, the exhibition will highlight the historic residential, archeological, and lifestyles of the region.

The weekly newspaper of King Khalid University, Afaaq, discussed the exciting economic project of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, NEOM, through 15 pages in its 122nd edition that will be issued on the 9th of this month.

Afaaq discussed the project; its objectives, future, and the many initiatives that will be taken on the sidelines of the project. The article also showed how massive the project is in the respect that holds the future of the Kingdom and how our visionary leadership aims at achieving a qualitative economic leap.

His Excellency the Rector of the University, Prof. Dr. Faleh Bin Rajaa Allah Al-Solamy, expressed his appreciation for the historic project. He said that Saudi Arabia is witnessing a landmark leap since His Royal Highness the Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman’s announcement of the project, which will be a milestone in the history of the Kingdom and a positive transformation of its economy through this project and the brilliant plans that are related to Vision 2030. He praised the efforts of the Crown Prince and his initiatives in supporting the Kingdom and its development. Rector Al-Solamy praised the economic and investment awareness displayed by His Royal Highness. He further pointed out that His Royal Highness the Crown Prince’s speech at the moment of announcing the project proved that the Kingdom would guide a new civilized path that espouses moderate Islamic ethics.

Rector Al-Solamy added, "I am confident that we are coming to positive changes at all levels, and there will be no retreat- God willing. We all shoulder the conscious economic vision, and we are keen to live in peace, love, security, and stability."

For his part, the General Supervisor of the Afaaq Newspaper and the Media Center at the University, Professor Ali bin Shuwail Al-Qarni, confirmed that the NEOM is undoubtedly a decisive advantage for future generations. He pointed out that the announcement of the project was not typical, because of the strategic partnerships with Countries, people in business, and major companies in the world in an area shared by Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Jordan.

Professor Shuwail asserted that in view of the importance of this project, Afaaq has been keen to specify a number of pages of the project and its pioneers, headed by the Crown Prince HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman, so that the students of the university can see the project through its imaginative lenses but realistic thinking and planning.

It is noteworthy that the weekly newspaper of King Khalid University, Afaaq, is one of the most popular university newspapers in the Kingdom with approximately 45,000 copies per week and is the first university newspaper published on the web and distributed both domestically and internationally.
