As part of the first Tawasol Program with scholarship students organized by King Khalid University in the United Kingdom, the Dean of Faculty Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Hamed Al Buhairi will conduct numerous interviews with Saudi scholarship students hoping to attract the best and brightest to work at the university.

In the same context, a meeting was held with scholarship students in the city of Cardiff to train them on academic life in universities. It included the most important duties of the faculty member and his functions as well as the methods of professional development and career advancement.

Al Buhairi has noticed to the university' keen interest and diligence in hiring national experts and specialists to work in the academic field where they can contribute with their colleagues in achieving the University's plans and strategic vision. He also stressed the substantial benefits the University receives from hiring qualified and highly competent Saudis for vacant positions.

His Excellency, King Khalid University Rector, Dr. Faleh Bin Raja Allah Al-Salami, sponsored today the first forum for scholarship students. The meeting was organized by the Deanship of Student Service, to celebrate the scholarship students and the exhibition accompanying the forum.

In his address, Rector Al-Salamy welcomed all the scholarship students in their second country and wished them more success.

He added that the university is looking forward to increasing scholarship grants at all different levels. It- the university- also looks forward to increasing the specializations for. He pointed out that the university has approved a fund for special scholarship students and is in the process of preparing its administrative and financial regulations. This fund is designed to support scholarship students, feel their needs and facilitate their lives at the university. At the end of his speech, rector advised the students to be the best ambassadors for their countries.

The ceremony began with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a short film, in which the number of scholarship students was mentioned; 640 from 19 countries. The film also talked about the role of the Deanship of Student Service through the management of grants and the provision of free housing for them. After that, there was a word given to scholarship students, presented by a number of students and in different languages.

 Then, the student Abdul Salam Faisal, from the State of Yemen, gave a poem that won the approval of everyone, followed by a folklore show to students of grants from the State of Yemen, and a section for competition, and proverbs and terminology, followed by a folklore show for students from Syria. At the end of the celebration, all the attendees took Memorial photos.

On behalf of His Excellency, King Khalid University Rector, Prof. Faleh bin Rajaa Allah Al Solamy, the Vice Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Majid Al Harbi, opened the activities of the second qualifying course for the scholarship of teaching assistants and lecturers. The course is organized by the scholarship and attraction administration in the Graduate Studies and Research Vice-Presidency.

The course has discussed four important themes in a scholar's life, initiated by Dr. Majid Al-Harbi who discussed the subject of how to choose the right country and university, and how to email foreign universities, in addition to how to perform standardized examinations required for admission to the University for Post Graduate Studies.

Dr. Al Harbi pointed out that the course is being held for the second year in a row. The purpose was and still a scholar's preparation before joining a scholarship program. Moreover, the course aims to provide a scholar with all the knowledge that may help him/her. Dr. Al Harbi wished those who joined the course to take te maximum advantage of it.

For his part, the General Supervisor of the scholarship Administration Attraction, Prof. Saad Al-Omari clarified to the attendees the subject of scholarship regulations and systems in the Saudi universities, and how to communicate during the mission with the attaché.

The member of scholarship and training committee, Dr. Ali Al Shati talked about the third theme of the course; the academic and legal systems of the countries of scholarship that receive scholars from King Khalid University.

The last theme of the course was presented by a member of the teaching staff from the Faculty of Languages and Translation, Dr. Saeed Al Sarf. He talked about how it is important for a scholar to adhere to the nature of culture, social customs, religious rules, and regulations and laws admitted in Saudi Arabia, while he/she in the country of scholarship, as well as when writing dissertations and scientific research.

At the end of the course, teaching assistants and lecturers met with members of the Standing Committee of the scholarship and training. It was an open meeting to exchange questions and information on the subject of scholarship.

It is worth mentioning that the course is provided for both men and women who are going to join a scholarship program. They were about 390 beneficiaries.  Attendees are going to be delivered a special certificate which will be one of the requirements of scholarship in the future.

The King Khalid University (KKU), represented by the Deanship of Teaching staff has announced the start of receiving University employees' scholarship applications. Employees who would like to complete their postgraduate studies, whether to get a diploma after bachelor degree, or Master, or PhDs degrees could apply for the program.

The deanship has identified the mechanism of sending requests. The applicant has to fill in the form of request consent, then send it by "Enjaz" program to the employees' scholarship fund, before 30 - 11 - 1436 AH.

The deanship has provided a number of rules through which the application will be accepted. First, the employee must have spent at least four years at the university. The employee does not have any administrative irregularities, the employee's job performance evaluation of the last year should not be less than excellent, in addition, the employee has to obtain the acceptance of one of the recognized universities or institutes. Also,the applicant must pass a test for the language of the study, by providing the results of one of the standard tests of language. Finally, the applicant should have obtained a rating not less than good in bachelor degree, in addition to applying employees' scholarship list.

It is obvious to everyone King Khalid University endeavor to achieve the trends of e-government and its attempt to eliminate paperwork as much as possible.

In this sense, the idea of establishing a scholarship portal has been risen. Primarily, the system aims to serve the scholar students abroad, through the provision of e-services to the student, and through facilitating the procedures and saving time and effort so that the students can dedicate themselves to the academic achievement.

Why a portal for scholars?

  • To facilitate student access to services electronically.
  • To speed up the implementation of requests due to the link between all relevant      authorities.
  • To communicate with the student electronically through the system, emails and SMS.
  • To follow up requests automatically and find out their status and date of completion.

Scholarship portal includes all a scholar may need and in one place.

The scholarship portal allows the scholarship administration the possibility of communicating with scholars inside and outside the Kingdom via SMS or e-mail,

Moreover, the portal contains many private reports of the scholarship administration, as well as a Forum for scholars: a newly-added service for the portal.

What does the portal offer?

When a scholar Log in the portal and fill in the scholar form model, since then he/she will able to take advantage of all services. The portal allows a review to the mission data and all the financial transactions that are related to the scholar. It also allows to apply for a scholarship and many other services, including:

  1. My data.
  2. Send a text message to the students on scholarship.
  3. Send e-mail to the students on scholarship.
  4. Statistical reports for the students on scholarships
  5. Common statistics with Ambassador System(Safeer).
  6. The scholars' Forum.
  7. Scholars' data.
  8. Scholarship form.

Since the launch of the first release of the scholarship portal, the number of those who registered in the portal have reached 1920 beneficiaries.


What's new in the second release of the scholarship portal?

In its second release, Information Technology Directorate (IT) was keen on simplifying the portal in terms of design in order to facilitate access to all of its services as well as adding the scholar's forum, activating it to allow the scholars to communicate with the scholarship administration, thus answering their inquiries. Furthermore, all outside and inside scholars have been added and the portal has been linked to the (Safeer) Ambassador system which is affiliated to the Ministry of Education. The Portal also has been linked to Google Analytics to provide making statistics and reports in case the scholar ask for them.
